About Voith Paper - As the full-line supplier to the paper industry, Voith Paper provides the largest range of technologies, services, components, and products on the market and offers paper manufacturers solutions from one single source. In Canada, our plant in Hawkesbury operates since 1985, where our teams perform the mechanical maintenance, and the manufacturing of roll covers for the paper machine rolls. These steel rolls, that weigh as much as 50 tons, are of very high precision to be used for papermaking. We are currently searching talents for the position of:
Grinding Operator
Hawkesbury, Ontario
Under general direction of the Production Supervisor, the incumbent will perform series of operation. Grinding wheels or belt grinding non-metallic materials such as rubber, polyurethane, fiberglass cover.
DUTIES AND TASKS
Inspect journals for score marks or any damage. Report to supervisor any occurrence.
Clean babbitt post.
Ensure that supporting surface is round and concentric with the bearing surface.
Position and secure cylinder with universal joint and both steady rest.
Align and level roll.
Ensure all specifications on work order match roll and/or blueprint.
Define which grinding wheel or belt to use.
Program crown when applicable.
Remove nylon binders when applicable.
Engage work feed.
Program control to adjust depth of removal, grinding speed and feed rates.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience not required, but operator experience an asset
Mechanically inclined person an asset
Basic computer skills required (such as data entry to input measurements into machine program).
Polyvalent, motivated individual with a keen eye for quality and a focus on safety
Functional knowledge of imperial measure system
Available for day and afternoon rotating shifts
As part of our hiring process, we require a pre-hire medical examination
Bilingual in English and French

Permanent, full-time position
Entry wage of 26,38$/hour
Day shift is from 7am – 3pm and afternoon shift is from 3pm to 11pm.
