Job Description:
The Grocery Manager assists the Assistant Store Director (ASD) in directing the operation of the Center of Store (COS) Departments (Grocery, TAB, GM/HBC, Frozen, Dairy) to include supervising and training employees. During the absence of the ASD, the Grocery Manager oversees the COS Departments, with the same authority, duties and responsibility as the ASD. The Grocery Manager is a non-exempt, hourly position. The schedule is determined by the needs of the stores. Reports to the ASD.
Key Job Duties:
The Grocery Manager is accountable for the following job responsibilities:
Customer service including assistance with customer complaints in a positive manner and observation of/coaching employees as needed. Assists ASD in the overall operation of the COS departments to include supervision of all employees and execution of store standards. Manages weekly changeover of MED ends and sales floor displays as per weekly marketing plan. Assists ASD to maintain in-stock levels at or better than store target to include execution of Division best practice for ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking and merchandising product. Assists with preparation for/clean up from reset waves. Provides recommendations regarding regular and seasonal merchandise requirements and special sales needs. Assists in the completion of the Scan Based Planning weekly order. Prepares daily “to do list” for day/night stockers (helper clerks) and Grocery PIC; closes out discontinued items and implements price changing procedures. Executes PI maintenance for Sundries/Repack to include spices, gum, candy, checkstands. Assists ASD to maintain COS shrink to target by execution of Division best practices to include S-Works backroom standards, FAR checklist tasks, daily use of Pick List, daily use of rotation calendar, preparation for COS inventory. Holds employees accountable to compliance with established retail policies and procedures, federal/state/local laws, security practices and record keeping processes. Partners with the ASD to schedule and train Center of Store employees. Assists ASD with vendor communication to include merchandising, order verification, troubleshooting service problems. Supports front-end team as back-up checker. Other duties as required which may include supporting all departments in the store as needed.
