The Snow Grooming Supervisor at Woodward Tahoe is responsible for leading all grooming operations to create world-class snow surfaces across the resort’s terrain parks, trails, and learning areas. This role ensures that all snow features, from beginner zones to advanced freestyle terrain, are groomed to the highest standards, while maintaining safety, efficiency, and creativity. The ideal candidate will have a passion for terrain park innovation and a strong background in snow grooming, with an emphasis on freestyle and park-specific grooming.

Key Responsibilities:Mentor and train team members on grooming techniques, terrain park shaping, and safe operation of snowcats.Collaborate closely with the terrain park team to align grooming efforts with Woodward’s goals for innovative and progressive terrain features.Oversee nightly grooming operations to deliver top-tier snow conditions across all groomed surfaces.Ensure all groomed areas meet Boreal/Woodward Tahoe’s high standards for safety and rideability, providing a premium guest experience.Oversee the proper use and maintenance of grooming equipment, including snowcats, winch cats, and specialized park-building tools.Conduct regular inspections and work with the maintenance team to schedule preventative maintenance and repairs, ensuring grooming equipment is always in peak condition.Collaborate with other departments such as terrain parks, ski patrol, and snowmaking to optimize snow grooming efforts and ensure smooth mountain operations.Adjust grooming schedules and tactics based on weather conditions, snow quality, and special event requirements.Work closely with the snowmaking team to maximize snow coverage and quality throughout the season.Supervise the grooming team, ensuring daily operations run smoothly and efficiently.Promote a culture of safety among the grooming team, implementing training and monitoring practices to mitigate risks.Manage grooming schedules, team rotations, and timekeeping to ensure effective coverage and efficient operations.Maintain accurate records of grooming activities, equipment usage, and snow conditions. Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years of snow grooming experience, including specialized experience in terrain park grooming, feature construction, winch cat operations and halfpipe design.Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a snow grooming role, with a focus on managing diverse teams.Advanced knowledge of terrain park building techniques, snowcat operation, and freestyle snow feature maintenance.Familiarity with GPS-guided snow depth and terrain management systems.Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset, with the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays in an outdoor, cold weather environment.

 

Preferred Skills:Experience working in a freestyle terrain-focused resort or terrain park.Passion for action sports and a deep understanding of the needs of freestyle skiers and snowboarders.
