Job Description

Summary:

Expeditors’ Ground Network Services is a cross product service for Global Air, Ocean and Transcon Services. This cross product cooperation starts with origin offices sharing trucks to Gateways to reduce costs. This requires communication and visibility across all products. A designate in each office needs to be the central point of contact for branch consolidations. This position reports to the Branch as directed by Branch Management. The District GNS Designate supports the execution by managing daily truck operations for the GNS shipments to and from the branch.

Tasks and Duties:

This section lists job-specific tasks and duties, such as the ones listed below, that are completed on a regular basis by the GNS Gateway Agent.

Outbound Tasks:

Attend and participate in GNS calls, three times per week. Participation is mandatory.Educate and assist branch departments on the use and benefit of the origin booking script required to tender freight to GNS.Optimize the space on the GNS vehicles throughout the day using the GNS website.Promote best practices of booking and making freight available for GNS to load on the daily vehicle(s).Promote the GNS network and strengths.Be present to support with queries throughout the GNS process.Promote visibility tools for all GNS users and Transportation products.Simulate most effective load consolidations through Cargo Builder and issue loading plans to the warehouse.Run the consol finalization script for all ready cargo and close consols.Produce all documents for the daily outbound vehicle(s) (CMR, Transit documents and Manifest).Ensure daily on time departure(s) in line with schedules.Ensure all required events are updated timely ex. COBConsult with GNS Gateway prior to shipping out of scope shipments via GNS. 

Inbound Tasks:

Monitor the on time arrival of inbound line haul trucks and update arrival events accordingly.Check and validate inbound manifest(s).Communicate freight arrival status with departments.Report exceptions in the GNS website and E.tms if needed.Communicate OSD to all involved parties.Monitor carrier performance for operating schedule.Support departments and gateways to Track and Trace shipments.Communicate across all products.Trouble shoot issues as they arise.Provide support with script usage and training.Accurately protect the correct costs for each GNS truck according to the agreed rates.Manage Service provider invoices timely.Be open to implementing new system changes and enhancements into your department.Be involved in providing constructive feedback on potential system and process improvements.Promote compliance in diligently following all company policies and regulations and performing the task at hand with outstanding integrity and pride.
