Grounds Maintenance Apprentice
Location: Westwells Rd, Corsham SN13 9ET
Salary: £18,500
Based in Corsham, Wiltshire we are looking for a full-time apprentice, who will split their time between working on our 160-acre site and studying for a qualification in Horticulture or Grounds Maintenance at Wiltshire College, Lackham. You will work in a small, dedicated team, driven to deliver exceptional service every day to our clients. Standard working hours are 7:30 – 3:30, but flexible working is available.
The mission of the grounds team is four-fold. They are responsible for:
Site safety: Roads and pathways must be clear and safe, which includes salt gritting in the winter months Aesthetic: The site must be a beautiful and pleasant place to work and live Functionality: the outdoor facilities must be fit for use Biodiversity: We protect and nurture a variety of habitats and wonderful wildlifeTo that aim you will assist our experienced grounds team in maintaining amenity lawns, meadows, ponds, the sports pitch, roads and pathways, car parks, the orchard, trees and woodlands, planter boxes, and a number of ornamental gardens.
You will learn a variety of equipment, including hand tools, leaf blowers, hedge cutters, lawn mowers, strimmers, line-markers, and more. A driver's licence is necessary to operate the team pick-up truck, ride-on mowers, off-road vehicle, and tractor.
Requirements:
Proof of the Right to Work in the UK GCSE maths and English scores of 4 or above MOD Security clearance (Mitie will pay for this. Spent criminal convictions are not necessarily a barrier to obtaining security clearance.)
