BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for on-site leadership of grounds staff. Maintain safe and attractive grounds at all Bastrop ISD sites, and related landscaping, including athletic fields. Ensure that district grounds are safe, neat, and attractive.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent Clear and valid Texas driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of water conservation practices and local water regulations Ability to operate and troubleshoot irrigation equipment Ability to work independently Strong attention to detail
Experience:
Previous experience in irrigation system installation, maintenance, or repair preferred

Key Responsibilities:
Operate, maintain, and repair irrigation systems, including controllers, sprinklers, pumps, and pipes. Monitor and assess water usage to ensure efficient irrigation practices and compliance with local water conservation policies. Adjust sprinkler settings and water schedules to meet seasonal needs and weather conditions. Inspect and troubleshoot irrigation systems for damage or inefficiency, making repairs as necessary. Collaborate with grounds maintenance staff to ensure that irrigation complements overall landscaping efforts. Maintain accurate records of irrigation system maintenance, repairs, and water usage. Perform regular inspections of school grounds to identify areas needing water and irrigation system attention. Respond to and resolve issues related to irrigation and water systems promptly. Assist with seasonal groundskeeping duties, including lawn care and landscaping tasks as needed. Ensure that safety protocols are followed in all tasks and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Ability to operate zero turn mowers, weed eaters and blowers. Assist grounds crews in spring or as needed with mowing and maintaining district grounds.
