Job Summary: Performs ground keeping, cleanup duties, and general care of outside hospital campus and landscape including: mowing, edging, watering and pruning. Operates and repairs grounds equipment.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: A valid driver’s license and a Motor Vehicle Report that meets SFHS guidelines are required.

Work Experience: 6 months to 1 year related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to operate grounds equipment safely and effectively.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Maintains Hospital grounds by mowing, edging, watering and pruning. Works to maintain Hospital appearance by cleaning and removing debris, leaves, cigarette and trash residue. Trims and transplants, as required, to maintain the quality of plant life. Assist in landscape work to include tree, shrub relocation and planning. Recommends new methods of planting and cultivating both the inside and outside garden areas. Determines method of planting, spraying and cultivating. Maintains campus roadways and sidewalks during inclement weather.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions involving non-routine problems under general supervision.

Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
