Owns early identification and elevation of credit and regulatory risk in the respective portfolios. Ensures proper coordination and teamwork occurring among and between Portfolio Management teams and other relevant constituencies to ensure timely and high quality underwriting. Focus on consistent execution. Identification, recruitment, development and retention of engaged, industry leading Team Leads and Portfolio Managers. Develops strong partnerships with key stakeholders to enhance communication and effectiveness. Ensures the group portfolio achieves soundness, profitability and growth objectives through leadership and oversight of the underwriting, monitoring and sales/servicing activities. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Consistently engages with Head of UW&PM, RPs and CRMs to proactively identify emerging credit issues within the portfolio and challenges the PM organization teammates where appropriate to ensure early detection and initiate risk mitigation actions where appropriate (i.e. capital allocation and decisions around hedging and evaluating Exit opportunities). Regularly demonstrates influence in client and global portfolio decisions; retains a voice among RPs and CRMs. 30% 2. Identification, recruitment, development and retention of engaged, industry leading teammates who are building critical skillsets to meet elevated PM role expectations through regular 1x1 conversations, training, coaching and mentoring as well as inspection. Identifies, identify training needs and execute effective and targeted training. 30% 3. Maintains deep knowledge of relevant industry/region banking portfolios and specific client/situational knowledge of higher profile clients (i.e. LFTs, Tall Trees, Deteriorating Credits), the industry in which they operate and the competitive environment within those industries. Maintains current understanding of market trends including those related to loan structures/pricing and peer lending behaviors. Partner closely with CIG (CIB and CRE) peers to ensure effective delivery of complex financing solutions to Commercial Clients through industry specific lens; responsible for maintaining extensive level of knowledge of Capital Markets solutions, in addition to market trends and business drivers. 20% 4. The leader will be required to engage with internal assurance functions such as SunTrust Audit Services and Credit Review through examinations and other project work. Similarly, engagement with regulatory supervisors during examinations and/or touchpoints will also be a required competency with likely involvement in remediating current/future regulatory matters under the oversight of the risk function. 20% 5. Span of Control (include # direct reports): Span of control generally includes 8-12 direct reports. Partners and interaction points include Line of Business, Credit Risk, Credit Risk Review, Clients, Technology, Compliance, etc. 6. Decision-Making and Autonomy: Region/Industry Leader has high degree of autonomy in decisions. In addition to executing within individual loan authority granted, Leader has oversight and accountability for all activities within team. Leads action forces, task forces and/or projects independently for both team and Bank more broadly. 7. Problem Complexity: Very complex 8. Nature and Area of Impact, including Risk: Yes, teammates in this position are required to execute with an independent point of view, make decisions, and provide recommendations as appropriate. **QUALIFICATIONS** Required Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 15+ years of experience in underwriting, portfolio administration, commercial loan credit decision making 2. Subject Matter Expert level understanding of accounting and finance, financial statement and cash flow analysis. Mastery level proficiency with MS Office Desktop applications. Strong interpersonal skills and solid written/verbal communication are essential. 3. 10 years of management experience **Preferred Qualifications:** 4.
