Through a structure of discipline, you will oversee the production of deliverables, collaborate with internal and external clients, and provide leadership to the group. You will work closely with the Energy Transition Service Line Director to achieve the business goals set out in our strategic plan. **You will head the team to deliver the following:** + Leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver technically excellent solutions to our clients across a broad portfolio of projects. + Providing visible technical and team leadership and governance. + Developing designs and approaches that clearly differentiate WSP from our competitors. + Promote and lead innovation across the team and the application of engineering principles to first of a kind projects. + Working collaboratively with other groups within WSP and maximising cross-selling opportunities. + Support business leadership in the preparation and review of key bids, provide input into pricing strategy. + Identification of skills gaps and recruitment of technical staff. + Maintaining and developing processes and procedures to ensure efficient delivery of design. + As part of the group leadership team, helping to meet group business objectives and KPIs. + Support and ensure the integration of UK-wide best practices, i.e., BMS, SHEQ. + Interface with iCRC and promote its effective use within the region. + Maintain an overview of workload, utilisations, and associated resource requirements, and work with team leaders as appropriate to ensure resources are fully utilised within technical capability. + Promote the performance review process and support career development; encourage training and learning in association with the Discipline Lead. + Interface with the Discipline Lead on all staff matters requiring support. + Support project leaders for extraordinary performance issues, both positive and negative, developing cost-to-complete forecasts and calculating outturn position. **Your Team** Our team’s expertise covers all Energy Transition generation and conversion technologies including novel, first of a kind concepts and other low or zero carbon technology. Working together with private developers, power utilities, government bodies, banks, lending agencies, contractors, and OEMs, we safely deliver projects whilst meeting and exceeding client expectations. Our teams are tactically placed in the UK, India, Ireland, and wider Europe. We work internationally with our clients and other Energy sector teams in North America, the Middle East, Africa, South America, Asia, New Zealand, and Australia. The Energy Transition team provides services to clients from inception through development, construction, operation, and decommissioning. An approach that sees us support our clients over the entire lifecycle of a project. **What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…** + Degree qualification in relevant engineering subject supported with significant postgraduate experience in engineering design and/or operation, maintenance, and testing. + Chartered Engineer and a member of the relevant engineering institute. + The ability and desire to assume a lead role in the development of the engineering team skill set and breadth of service. + Significant experience of managing design and engineering teams. + Detailed knowledge of the design, construction, and operation of power and energy projects, ideally including low or zero-carbon technologies and gasification. + Ability to establish, build, sustain, and share strong, professional relationships with relevant internal and external groups. Driven to exceed client expectations. + Outstanding Customer focus and a commitment to problem solving. + Experience and an excellent understanding of the CDM Regulations. + Excellent commercial awareness and extensive experience of cost estimating and build-up of cost, time, and resource plans across all engineering disciplines. + Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.
