**Job Description**

Group Leader R&D is a key Ernest Jackson leadership position with overall responsibility for Product & Process Development for the Ernest Jackson business, as well as working alongside external regulatory partners to ensure we are aware and reacting to the foods and medicines regulatory landscape. It is a role that requires the leadership and motivation of staff at multiple levels to ensure effective delivery of existing and future business in compliance with GMP guidelines and Mondelez policy.
The role encompasses c. £1.5m budgetary responsibility and 7 direct reports across a multi-disciplinary development team.
Reporting into the Strategic Capability Director you will create, own and develop the agenda for your areas of accountability. Supported by your motivational leadership and relentless desire for everyday great delivery and execution, you drive a team ethic that at its core is passionate for continual improvement and brings the outside in to deliver products with a sustainable competitive edge.
You will bring project management discipline to the development team ensuring they make the best of their technical expertise, are clear on priorities, effective in stakeholder management, balancing the tension between delivering growth projects and sustaining the compliance and efficiency of the existing portfolio.
As a strong people manager and coach you put people at the centre of the operation. You act with integrity at all times and recognise that sustainability is driven through strong leadership aligned to a committed support to the teams and the primary process.
1. Using your excellent people management and coaching skills to support your team in delivering a busy agenda, whilst keeping the business up to date with progress through KPIs and Roadmaps
2. Influencing senior stakeholders internally and externally through clear and concise communication of technically complex challenges and outcomes including recommendations that challenge the status quo
3. Applying critical thinking, scientific understanding, technical foresight and thought leadership to deliver results in complex, ambiguous situations
4. Be EJ’s Regulatory lead, working alongside external partners to advise the best routes through the regulatory landscape. Monitor changes to the regulatory environment and actioning changes where required to ensure EJ compliance. Guide EJ on medicines regulations for new licenced products.
5. Ensure that all products produced & developed comply with MDLZ MEU and where appropriate Pharmaceutical GMP product specifications.
6. Gatekeeper in EJ Project gate process, assuring development standards are met, effective allocation of resource to business priorities and clear stakeholder management.
7. Demonstrate and deliver strong financial control, compliance and improvement, through a proactive approach with regards to the total costs of product development and maintenance. Adherence to budget figures, tracking and reporting deviations will form a part of the role and your focus will ensure activities are resourced in the most cost-effective way.
All duties must be carried in line with all the relevant Health, Safety and Environmental regulations, SOP’s, Company Policies and guidelines set out by Ernest Jackson relating to your employment, duties and associated tasks. These must be followed at all times with any & all deviations from process escalated appropriately. Any other duties considered to be reasonable by your Line Manager.
