The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and Launch Services programs.

 We are looking for a Group Manager.  We are a single-client performance unit (PU) supporting the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Consolidated Operations, Management, Engineering & Test (COMET) contract. The contract is to continue providing ground and launch operations support at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), including support for the International Space Station and the Artemis Program.  The contract also includes services to other NASA programs, commercial ventures, and partnerships at KSC.

The Group Manager will report to the Electrical Design Engineering Senior Manager and strategically lead a team of HW and SW engineers toward the completion of design engineering, hardware qualification, and lab/shop management associated with critical GSE in support of manned flight for the SLS.

Responsibilities include\:

* Use program and project management experience to develop success-oriented schedule, delegate labor resources, and support design completion of EGSE design;

* Create and adjust processes in support of design completion, fabrication, test and checkout of ground support equipment;

* Possess interpersonal, communication and technical skill to guide the department, develop and maintain good. customer relationships;

* Review and approve electrical engineering design output;

* Use engineering knowledge and experience to guide and mentor team of electrical engineers;

* Able to effectively communicate job expectations, rapidly adapt/respond to changes in tasks and responsibilities;

* Mentor and inspire members of the team for success.

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or other technical degree.

Minimum 7 years engineering experience in a leadership position

·       Demonstrated leadership skills as evidenced by prior managerial / supervisory and/or technical leadership

·       experience.

·       Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

·       Thorough knowledge of industry standards and regulatory codes such as but not limited to NEC, NFPA, IEEE is

·       required.

·       Knowledge of Arc Flash analysis and mitigation implementation highly desirable.

·       Working knowledge of engineering tools such as but not limited to ProE, AutoCAD, Microstation, Windchill, ETAP,

·       Maximo, and Solumina is highly desired.

·       Excellent communication, presentation and customer interface skills required.

·       PMP or MBA desired

·       Familiarity with KSC design processes a plus

 

Work Environment\:

·       Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.

·       Position may require daily individual to travel to different areas on site.

·       Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.

·       Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.  The use of fall arrest systems may be required.

·       All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.

 

Attendance\:

·       Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday.

·       Position may require occasional overtime including weekend work depending on task.

·       Must be dependable and punctual.

·       Shift work may be required.  

Other Essential Functions\: 

·       Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.

·       Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.

·       Grooming and dress/work attire must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

·       Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.

·       Government security clearance may be required in the future.
