This position has responsibility for responding to the group’s enquiries of the predetermined geographic markets, in order to maximize room and banqueting revenue & utilization of meeting space, works to ensure at a minimum delivery of budgeted revenues. The Groups Sales Manager manages, negotiates and converts groups business of rooms including banqueting. The contracting of groups, until the hand over to the Conventions services team, in addition to managing the function diary inventory. Must demonstrate high energy levels & provide consistently high levels of customer service in accordance with W standards & programs. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: **Lead Qualification and Relationship Management** o Identify and qualify potential leads through research, aligning with the hotel’s sales strategy and goals. o Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, including meeting planners, organizations, and corporate businesses, to achieve optimum market share. **Tailored Solutions and Proposals** o Understand client needs and provide tailored solutions to meet group requirements. o Prepare compelling proposals and presentations that highlight the hotel’s facilities, services, and promotional offers. **Site Inspections and Standards Adherence** o Conduct methodical site inspections for prospective and tentative group bookings, ensuring alignment with departmental standards. **Negotiation and Contract Management** o Negotiate favorable terms and contracts while adhering to hotel policies and revenue objectives. o Track contract signing and payments to ensure deadlines are met. **Collaboration for Seamless Execution** o Work closely with events, catering, and operations teams to deliver flawless execution of group bookings and ensure exceptional guest experiences. **Guest Interaction and Feedback Management** o Respond promptly (within 24 hours) to guest inquiries, follow up to ensure satisfaction, and handle concerns or obstacles effectively. o Interact with guests to gather feedback on product quality and service levels. **Revenue Goals and Market Insights** o Strive to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals by closing optimal business opportunities based on market conditions. o Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats, adjusting strategies as needed. **Performance Tracking and Reporting** o Analyze sales data and market trends to accurately forecast revenue. Provide regular updates and reports to the Director of Group Sales. **Knowledge, Training, and Development** o Maintain expertise in Delphi and Opera, ensuring all booking information is current and accurate. o Promote tools like MI Leads for cross-selling opportunities and acquire a thorough understanding of the Marriott Loyalty Program. o Participate in sales-related training sessions and provide guidance to the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. **Professionalism, Engagement, and Special Projects** o Take responsibility for quoting decisions, manage time effectively, and complete daily tasks within strategic guidelines. o Attend pre-convention meetings, participate in annual engagement surveys, and support special projects as assigned by the Director of Group Sales (DOGS) and Director of Sales (DOS). o Demonstrate awareness of body language and communication to build rapport and ensure professional interactions. JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES o Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace and in the segmented markets. French will be a plus. o Proven luxury hotel sales experience (more than 2 years) o Strong analytical capabilities o Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written o Good organizational skills: has the ability to prioritize tasks and to manage the workload by her/his own initiative o Enjoys working as part of a team o Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel.
