Forensics Services provides mental health evaluation and treatment services to individuals diagnosed with a mental illness who present a risk to public safety. This is a safe and secure treatment environment. Our team is seeking qualified and enthusiastic Recreation Therapy Assistant Supervisor to join our Forensic Services team within the Direct Care & Treatment (DCT) Division of the agency. This position exists to assist with the overall management of Recreation Therapy (RT) services to include planning, organizing, directing, and collaborating with the Recreation Therapy Program Supervisor on RT service delivery. The incumbent will provide supervision, direction, and leadership to the Recreation Program Assistants and assist with supervision of Recreation Therapists as assigned. This position will also provide advanced therapeutic recreation services for forensic patients on an assigned FMHP unit that will include assessing leisure/recreational needs, creating and facilitating treatment interventions, organizing and preparing recreation participation opportunities, providing appropriate and timely documentation and evaluating outcomes. Primary Responsibilities: + Assist with the supervision and management of the Recreation Therapy Department to ensure that services are effectively provided, and service delivery standards are maintained. + Enrich and continually improve RT Services consistent with professional standards of practice and code of ethics. + Administer assessments to systematically and accurately determine appropriate treatment strategies to address patient needs and strengths in the areas of physical, cognitive, social, behavioral, emotional and leisure. Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team process by recommending treatment strategies, reporting progress and integrating services into the patient’s treatment plan. + Develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs for patients to address their social, emotional, cognitive, behavioral, leisure and physical needs; promote patient independence and hope; coach patients in social, coping and leisure skills; promote healthy pursuits; reestablish interests and improve quality of life. + Plan, develop, implement and oversee (chair) special events hosted by the RT department. Ensure that patients have opportunities to participate in events that provide positive leisure experiences that provide diversion from daily routines. **Minimum Qualifications** Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Park/Recreation & Leisure Services, Physical Education, or closely related field AND • One (1) year supervisory experience in a therapeutic, residential, or corrective environment OR • Two (2) years lead work providing direction of client care programs in a therapeutic, residential, or corrective environment OR • Three (3) years of experience facilitating recreation activities in a healthcare, mental health, residential or education setting **Preferred Qualifications** + CTRS certification. + Experience working with patients/clients with sexual psychopathic personalities, sexually dangerous persons, mentally ill and dangerous, or with developmental disabilities. + Our employees are dedicated to ensuring cultural responsiveness.
