Position Summary
Responsible for implementing the Love and Support element of the Dr. Dean Ornish Program for Reversing Heart Disease and facilitating the power of connection within each cohort. Monitors the response of each participant to the group support process. Actively participates in the development of the interdisciplinary treatment plan. Facilitates the program delivery team's transdisciplinary development process.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Screening and psychosocial evaluations of participants.
2. Implement Love and Support Element of the Ornish program.
3. Interdisciplinary team participation and transdisciplinary development process.
4. Maintains professional development
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Required:
Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling or related field
Preferred:
Experience in retreat setting
Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):
Required:
Five years experience in the field of mental health.
Preferred:
Experience with cardiac patients or other individuals confronting chronic illness.
Experience working with the psychosocial issues that may arise when making lifestyle changes.
License, Registry or Certification:
Required:
LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist
American Heart Association BCLS certification
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
Required:
Knowledge of clinical techniques, experience and adeptness in working with groups, ability to facilitate a process of self-expression and active listening in a way that can create connection, community and intimacy among group participants, ability to model and promote verbalization of feelings, and an empathic listening presence, excellent public speaking skills and knowledge of adult education and coaching principles, excellent interpersonal communication skills with sensitivity to participant needs, desire and willingness to collaborate as a member of a high-functioning transdisciplinary team that supports personal transformation.
