Ownership and responsibility for the Data, Analytics, and AI function for QBE GSSC in support of the overall Group Data Strategy. The GSSC capability supports divisions and group functions in addition to being an integral part of the Group Chief Data Office. The role will contribute to the strategic vision for Data, Analytics, and AI as a member of the Group Chief Data Office Leadership Team (CDOLT). Responsibility for driving the creation of an Analytics strategy, as part of the global data and analytics strategy, across all divisions and functions and building a service capability for reporting, analytics, governance, quality, and AI in partnership with other CDOLT members and in line with existing strategy and policies. The role has the responsibility for all operational processes around reporting and data across the GSSC for whichever parts of the global business they support. There will be focus on simplification and rationalisation of reporting, alongside building more predictive and prescriptive services and a prompt operations capability. The successful candidate must have first class interpersonal skills, influence skills and matric management capabilities whilst understanding organisational execution and operational transformation. The role report to the Group Chief Data Officer who is based in London and the Head of GSSC based in Manila.

Primary Responsibilities

• Establish and own the strategic vision and plan for Data, Analytics, and AI in GSSC in support of business priorities and in line with Group Data Strategy
•Build Data Analytics and AI capability to support the group chief data office
•Assess the opportunity to build prompt design and data science capability in the GSSC to support projects globally, suggest approach and strategy.
•Manage data/ disciplines required around analytics, prompt design, AI
•Working with GCDO and Ventures to crowdsource projects globally, primarily from the future fit pools
•Build a service capability for reporting, analytics, governance, quality, and AI in partnership with other CDOLT members and in line with existing strategy and policies.
•Build a team who develop deep understanding of the business needs and strategic priorities
•Execution of strategic priorities for Data, Analytics, and AI in QBE GSSC and GCDO.
•Policy, Process and Procedures
•Accountable for adopting group policies and procedures for data management, analytics and AI across GSSC.
•Accountable for developing consolidated reporting capabilities across all GSSC processes enabling rationalisation, simplification and cost reduction, removing duplication and ensuring right sizing.
•Responsible for supporting the Group CDO in developing a broader consolidated reporting capability across all divisions to ensure a GSSC based Group Centre of excellence can be established for reporting.
•Build, develop and run the GSSC Data council.
•Represent GSSC interests and align those interests with group across Data, Analytics and AI.
•Adopt and implement group level policies across data, analytics and AI across GSSC.
•Ensure alignment and use of strategic architecture across data, analytics and AI for GSSC.
•Work closely with Group CDO and the leadership team to develop consistent services and scalability for QBE across GCDO.
•Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus
•Partner effectively across all divisions, and be an advocate for GCDO and GSSC
•Build strong relationships with GCDO leaders and business and data leaders across the different divisions.
•Remain connected to industry developments and enable the organisation with a deep understanding of Data and Analytics.
•Build strong and capable teams with deep experience to add value to QBE quickly.
•Build effective analytical and data science use cases with the divisions as part of a broader data analytics strategy formation.
•Technical Performance
•Knowledge of industry leading practices and tools in relation to Data and Analytics and Artificial intelligence, in particular Generative AI.
•Knowledge of contemporary approaches in data engineering, data & analytics platforms , data governance and management technology and processes and artificial intelligence
•Knowledge and experience of leading agile development delivery approaches
•Knowledge of advanced analytics / ML techniques and their suitability to solve business problems
•Leadership
•Build a diverse, vibrant and engaged Data & Analytics team, with clear career paths, development opportunities and collaborative culture
•Understand and demonstrate knowledge of leading matrix organisations and demonstrate servant leadership skills and experience.
•Understand offshore location strategy practices and skills development and recommend locations to build strongest talent.

Required Experience

• 8 years relevant experience

Preferred Competencies/Skills

• Strong background on data and analytics, AI/Gen AI real world experience is a plus.
•Ability to build, lead and manage a diverse team of technical experts to have broad business impact
•Ability to engage with stakeholders from across QBE to paint a compelling vision for Data, Analytics and AI, listen to feedback (internal and external) and move the organisation toward that vision
•Ability to attract Data, Analytics and AI professionals to work at QBE and build fulfilling careers at QBE
•Demonstrated ability to lead teams that apply advanced analytics techniques results to business outcomes
•Able to influence and drive change across organization
•Effective leader and also willing to roll up sleeves to execute

Preferred Experience

• Project delivery (incl. agile delivery) experience
•Previous working experience in the Financial Services Industry – desirable (but not essential) to have specific industry experience in General insurance
•10-15+ yrs in a senior data and analytics role
•Experience developing and deploying artificial intelilgence including generative AI.
•Experience leading in complex organisations, in particular distributed organisations where relationships are essential.
•Experience in developing and deploying data governance and analytics strategies.

Preferred Knowledge

• Degree qualified in finance/accounting, mathematics, statistics, Computer science or related discipline
•Desirable – Project Management certificate/experience
