H&B Associate

We are seeking a talented individual to join our H&B Consulting team at Mercer. This role will be based in Ottawa. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

We will count on you to:

Validate and compare premiums for group benefit plans during vendor renewals, quotes, or benchmarking exercises.

Produce quarterly experience monitoring reports for clients and analyze the impact of recent changes.

Analyze financial statements of group insurance plans and tailor financial agreements to meet client needs.

Review client utilization data to identify cost drivers and year-over-year trends, benchmarking against external data.

Perform in-depth analyses for larger, complex clients, collaborating with Mercer subject matter experts as needed.

Provide coaching and guidance to junior team members, ensuring quality and accuracy in deliverables.

What you need to have:

3-4 years of experience in employee benefits consulting or financial underwriting of group benefits.

Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Ability to work effectively in a team environment with changing priorities.

Willingness to obtain and maintain necessary licenses as per provincial regulations and Mercer policies.

What makes you stand out:

A post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in mathematics, accounting, finance, economics, or statistics.

Relevant certifications (e.g., insurance license, CEBS, CHRP) or working towards them.

Familiarity with group insurance benefits through work experience or CEBS GBA designation.

Bilingual proficiency in French and English.

Life License.
