Health & Safety Manager – Red Wing, MN
This is a full-time, exempt level position
Job Summary
The Health & Safety Manager will provide strategic leadership, direction, and guidance regarding H&S standards, systems, and permits within the Red Wing plant. Responsible for collaboration with a diverse group of plant personnel, oversight of the H&S performance and continuous improvement. Collaborate with location’s teams to meet legal and ADM expectations. Position reports to the Plant Manager.
Essential Job FunctionsWork closely with Plant Management to implement corporate H&S initiatives. Provide consistent H&S leadership, guidance, and mentoringEffective implementation of standardized ADM H&S programs and systems to ensure compliance with company and local requirementsDevelop and present H&S training for new hires and location colleagues as requiredSupport development of Safety KPI’s and report monthly on Safety related metricsWork to continuously improve the H&S cultureMonitor, evaluate, and report H&S performance and suggest corrective and preventive actions to further improve performanceBuild colleague commitment and enthusiasm for safety through collaborative leadership and influenceLead and mentor incident investigations – ensuring mitigation of risk and prevention of reoccurrenceEnable hourly staff to identify potential hazards and mentor the completion of risk assessmentsManage all health & safety reporting requirementsManage and maintain inventory of all radio, gas detectors, and safety-related PPE and order as neededManage annual respiratory and hearing testing for location colleaguesOwnership of internal and external H&S auditingAct as a champion and mentor for colleague safety engagement prioritizing behavior based safetyChampion the ‘Safety Bucks’ engagement reward programManage and provide oversight for injured colleague casesManage and work to improve the site’s Sphera tracking systemManage the site emergency response and asbestos management programs (Among others)Strong aptitude for the Management of Change (MOC) processPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree: Preferably in Occupational Health & Safety or related field5 years’ experience in a health and safety position in an industrial plant settingEmployees in this position may be exposed to various chemicals and food allergens due to the nature of our business and the requirements of the job. The position requires the ability to work in a variety of environments: office environment and varying indoor and outdoor environments to include extreme heat and cold. The position requires the ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods as well as climb stairs and ladders.
