Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Performs machine set up and operation of all Bindery finishing equipment. This would include folders, cutters, imaging, die cutter, inserter, and auxiliary equipment. Additional job duties utilize multiple production and quality tracking systems within the department and division. These duties could be expanded as new equipment or processes are added to the department.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Ability to operate bindery equipment to meet or exceed safety, production, and quality requirements. Responsible for daily production of Cutting, Folding, Imaging, and packaging of printed materials to meet deadlines. Sets up and operates all bindery finishing equipment to coincide with production and quality requirements. Observes operation to detect machine malfunctions and makes adjustments as required to maintain equipment in operating condition. Responsible for operation, maintenance, and supply monitoring for ink jet system. Able to operate hand trucks to assist in the moving of product as needed Maintain good housekeeping and safe work conditions.Responsible for Quality assurance on all products produced including verification of all variable elements (barcodes, variable images, typographic content, etc.). Also responsible for quality checks associated with postal requirements & integrity – i.e., IMB bar code, package breaks. Participates and completes three levels of the bindery operator training program. Reports any safety, production, quality, or equipment related problems to the Team Leader, and/or Supervisor. Helps with the development and training of less experienced bindery operators. Participates in all training sessions which may include past, present, or future information that is or will be essential to perform in this classification.Communicates day to day developments of all job-related information to co-workers, team-leaders, support departments, and the oncoming shift. Responsible for meeting goals and metrics of department and accurate coordination of paperwork, packaging, and labeling information. Maintains basic knowledge of all bindery processes and procedures to include the operation of all bindery equipment, sorting direct mail, and prepping of paperwork, run-sheets, load-flags, and labels. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED (Required)

EXPERIENCE

3 - 5 years Position requires that you have three to five years related production experience and/or training with Cutting, Folding, Imaging etc. Understand, perform, trouble shoot equipment issues, layout press sheets accurately for cutting, folding, imaging operations. (Required)

Preferred Certifications/Licensures: (Fork Lift License)

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, job instructions, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Responsible for coordination of all paperwork, packaging, inspecting, sorting, labeling of all Bindery jobs.Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems that involves several concrete variables in standardized situations.Mechanical Skills - Strong mechanical aptitude and computer knowledge. Ability to use spreadsheets and basic e-mail to communicate and track all jobs in route to and from the bindery.

EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE UTILIZED

Forklift.

Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the following: The VAX system, LXE locator system and Microsoft Office primarily Excel and Outlook

Additional Information

The national pay range for this role is $19.30-$25.20/hourly dependent on experience.
