Maintenance Engineer


 

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the maintenance of the hotel’s building and grounds and the operation of its equipment and mechanical/electrical systems as well as the overall safety and security of the hotel and its associates.

Position Standards & Essential Responsibilities:Reviewing maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders to prioritize and schedule work assignmentsMonitoring and inspecting assigned workTrouble shooting, diagnosing and repairing malfunctioning electrical/mechanical systems and equipment’sInspecting property to identify potential and current needsPlanning and executing on-going appropriate maintenance programsEstimating department expenditures for budget purposes and assisting with capital budget processSoliciting bids from contractors, evaluating their proposals and , once contracted, ensuring work is completed to specificationsCoordinating with local health, safety, fire and building inspectors to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulationsPerforming preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basisServicing the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filtersCompleting maintenance logs and updating all vendor/contractor filesMaintaining the building exterior if not serviced by a contractor (e.g. snow removal, lawn care, painting)Maintaining a passing score on the Quality Oil maintenance and security auditMaintaining Hampton service and product standardsRecruiting, selecting and training a skilled and motivated work forceListening and responding to guests’ requests and/or complaintsCoordinates and maintains effective relations with other departments in the hotel to promote excellent guest service.Is aware of all departments’ roles and responsibilities. Coordinates with other departments on joint tasks as they relate to maintenance, particularly housekeeping and the front office.Attends and participates in weekly staff meeting, insuring all other departments are aware of hotel maintenance issues
