Position Purpose Summary – With minimal supervision, set up and operate a variety of machines and various equipment assigned to the Plastic Machining Department operations to produce parts with tight tolerances from all types of materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Comply with all federal and state environmental, health and safety regulations as well as any safety policies and protocols outlined by the company.
• Perform fabrication of lathe products, using customer or GT drawings with minimum supervision achieving production efficiency required including set up, troubleshooting and run.
• Must be able to edit CNC Programs for various lathes.
• Must be proficient in the operation of all fabrication equipment in the area including operating multiple machines at once.
• Set-up, loading and run of equipment to manufacture and inspect various components including generating and editing of machine code (programs) at the machine.
• Make adjustments and assist operators to produce quality parts at a rapid pace as per production requirements.
• Utilize all Standard Measuring Instruments, QMM, OGP and Optical Comparator and perform First Piece and ‘in process’ inspection as required to achieve acceptable reliability and repeatability targets.
• Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor including active participation in team meetings for operational planning and improvement ideas.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Utilize required drawings, inspection sheets (generate new sheets as required)
• Perform required basic equipment maintenance (top off or adding fluid/oil, reposition water and air lines) for all equipment assigned to the area.
• Operate ancillary equipment in the department.
• Perform all miscellaneous duties in work area as required.
• Participate in two week rotation of all fabrication equipment.
• Perform job in compliance with Company’s Quality Policy (ISO 9000 and AS9100).
• Maintain part Quality Standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• High School Diploma / GED
• Must have obtained minimum of 9-12 months CNC Lathe experience in a production environment including NC programming, set up, troubleshooting and run
• Preferred proficiency in machining thermoplastic materials such as, but not limited to, PBI, PEEK/ARLON, NYSILON,ACETAL, UHMWPE, PTFE.
• Demonstrate proficiency upon completion of up to 30 working day trial training and evaluation period (may be ongoing until achievement is met).
Must possess G-Code knowledge including the ability to understand machine commands, sub program usage, edge break calculations, and general editing.
• Must be proficient with operating a workstation computer including searching, saving and editing files.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to work for long periods of time in a standing position.
• Ability to occasionally work in positions requiring sitting and walking.
• Ability to occasionally work in positions requiring twisting, stooping and grasping.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 55 lbs. without the use of mechanical lifting devices or help from others.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as: eye protection and foot protection.
• Perform job in a safe manner.
