Mold Masters is looking for a Controls Hardware Engineer to join our team in Georgetown, ON, Canada! As a Controls Hardware Engineer, you will, under minimal supervision, design, develop and modify new and existing control systems for Mold-Masters products. This will involve research into complete control system design and selection of the appropriate hardware. Using computer-assisted engineering and design software the incumbent will complete circuit designs for production implementation in compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements. The incumbent will also be required to help resolve problems, while actively participating in improving control system design processes and implementing change.
Work You’ll Do
Develop new and improved control designs for temperature controllers and other control systems
Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects
Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications
Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record results
Ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards
Research into new controls hardware and technologies
Select, size and design electric servo drive systems
Develop procedures, reports, and documentation
Work with production areas to enhance quality of products, solicit and develop new ideas
Occasionally visit customer sites to troubleshoot and service products; provide solutions
Contribute to the IP (Intellectual Property) portfolio of the company
Meet productivity objectives provided by the Manager
Keep Manager informed of workload and any delays impeding completion
Make recommendations for productivity and/or method improvements
Ensure ISO guidelines are followed
Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience and/or training is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven experience in designing industrial control systems, including servo electric systems, temperature controllers, industrial communications, and circuit boards is essential.
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to design control systems that meet design specifications and comply with operational and safety standards.
Strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and excellent organizational skills are necessary.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting various documents, including process documentation, flow charts, spreadsheets, data tables, technical configuration documents, schematics, and procedure manuals is required.
The ability to independently design, build, and test control systems, as well as prepare and deliver presentations to customers, and communicate effectively with employees, management, related company staff, consultants, and external suppliers is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with IEC 1131 programming languages and operator interface design, PLC programming, AutoCAD Electrical, C, C++ and .NET is a strong asset.
