Position summary:

The Hardware Depot Engineer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting hardware inventory and repair operations within the depot. This includes diagnosing and repairing hardware components, ensuring efficient inventory tracking, and coordinating shipping and logistics for hardware distribution. The role also involves collaborating with vendors, maintaining compliance with company standards and quality control processes, and ensuring smooth hardware operations. Strong technical expertise, organizational skills, and attention to detail are essential for success in this position.

Main responsibilities:

Diagnosing and repairing defective hardware.Managing inventory and tracking hardware movement.Coordinating shipping and logistics for hardware distribution.Collaborating with vendors for warranty and repair services.Documenting repair activities and maintaining detailed records.Ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key deliverables/accountabilities:

Timely Repairs: Ensure all hardware repairs are completed within the agreed service-level timelines.Accurate Inventory Management: Maintain up-to-date and accurate inventory records, minimizing discrepancies.Shipping Efficiency: Meet on-time shipping and delivery performance targets.Quality Standards: Consistently meet or exceed hardware quality benchmarks post-repair.Cost Control: Optimize repair and shipping processes to maintain budget compliance.Compliance: Ensure all processes align with company policies, industry standards, and safety protocols.

Working relationships:

Internal: Work closely with warehouse teams, operations staff, and quality assurance teams to streamline repair and shipping processes. Collaborate with management to provide updates on performance metrics and operational improvements.External: Liaise with vendors and suppliers for warranty claims, parts procurement, and service agreements. Coordinate with logistics partners to ensure efficient shipping and delivery of hardware.Cross-functional Teams: Interface with procurement, asset management and IT teams to address hardware lifecycle management and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experienceFluency in written and verbal EnglishProven experience in infrastructure technology analysisProficiency in data analysis and technical knowledge

Technical skills:

Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and hardware repair equipment.Strong understanding of hardware components such as CPUs, GPUs, storage devices, and power supplies.Experience with inventory management systems and tracking software (e.g., ServiceNow).Familiarity with shipping and logistics software for managing distribution workflows.Knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) safety standards and practices.Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and documentation.Hands-on experience with soldering, assembly, and component-level troubleshooting.Basic understanding of networking hardware (e.g., routers, switches) and connectivity standards.Competence in maintaining and updating service records in CRM or ERP systems.Familiarity with quality control tools and processes to ensure hardware reliability and compliance.
