Job Title: Hardware Design Engineer 4 Location: Onsite – Washington, DC / Reston, VA Pay Range: $70/hr. - $77/hr. Contract: 6 – 18 Months We are seeking a talented and diverse Hardware Design Engineer to accelerate the development and delivery of useful quantum computers. Our client is actively pursuing topological qubits for large-scale quantum computing and collaborating with leading companies to advance qubit hardware on the Quantum accelerator platform. Responsibilities: • Conduct research and articulate key aspects of qubit and component technologies. • Propose, design, and simulate novel approaches to qubits and qubit gates. • Interface with modeling, fabrication, measurement, hardware, and systems teams to accelerate key aspects of quantum computer subsystems and products. • Develop cryogenic testing systems for solid-state qubits and conduct measurements. • Design and model various quantum gate approaches, contributing to the creation of novel quantum plane architectures. • Monitor and maintain a deep understanding of current technological trends, both within and outside the company. • Serve as a bridge between the hardware development and architecture teams to accelerate product development. • Evaluate reporting formats, cost and schedule constraints, and security requirements to shape the product roadmap. Desired Qualifications: • PhD in Physics, Quantum Information Science, or a related field, with 2+ years of experience. • Demonstrated experience in building cryogenic experiments and measuring solid-state qubits. • Strong knowledge of solid-state (semiconductor and/or superconducting) device physics in quantum computing applications. • Expertise in solid-state quantum computer control and quantum plane architectures. • Ability to align scientific progress with product acceleration timelines. • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills (both verbal and written). • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with geographically dispersed teams. • Willing and able to travel up to 25% (domestic and international) to support program activities.
