Hardware Design Engineer (Consumer Electronics)
**Summary:** As a Hardware Design Engineer (Electrical Engineer) on the Smart Glasses team you will design, build, and test prototype electrical systems for our expanding line of smart glasses. You will become part of a team exploring new concepts through fast iterative prototyping. You will work cross-functionally with teams that will dynamically change depending on the problem and will include mechanical, industrial design, software/firmware, operations, and manufacturing teams. We want people who work well in teams, can take on board high level requirements and develop detailed electrical schematics, layouts, and then transition these designs into a high-volume consumer product. We're looking for system or board level Hardware Design Engineers (Electrical Engineers) with experience in high volume consumer products. These systems will have custom ASICs, microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGAs, audio, camera sensors, and high speed I/O. Additionally, you will be expected to help build and mentor a fledgling team of engineers as we look to break new ground in the area of high fashion smart glasses. **Required Skills:** Hardware Design Engineer (Consumer Electronics) Responsibilities: 1. Contribute to the development of complex subsystems, own development of moderately complex subsystems, or the development of simple systems under the direction of a technical lead 2. Design schematics, evaluate components, direct board layout, conduct design reviews and draft design documentations 3. Manage bring up and debug, support manufacturing and assembly build 4. Collaborate in a team environment and work across engineering disciplines to develop systems and manage trade offs across electronics, mechanics, optics, sensors, haptics, firmware and software 5. Evaluate vendor reference design and transform these into custom solutions which meet product and form factor constraints 6. Familiarity with CAD tools like Cadence OrCAD, Altium, SPICE, ModelSim, or Xilinx. 7. Work in distributed team environment 8. Travel both domestically and internationally **Minimum Qualifications:** Minimum Qualifications: 9. BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry experience 10. Proven knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals 11. Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence OrCAD, Altium or equivalent 12. Experience working with one of these technologies: use of oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, or function generators 13. Experience working with one of these technologies: digital signal processing, real-time image processing, display engineering, camera modules, mobile SoC and PMIC, or Battery Management System 14. Proven technical communication skills to cross functional partners 15. Experience designing mixed high-speed digital circuit boards, troubleshooting at the board and system level, and familiar with the consumer product development process **Preferred Qualifications:** Preferred Qualifications: 16. MS or PHD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering 17. Experience with high speed signaling over DP, MIPI, HDMI, and USB SS 18. Experience with IMUs/sensor physical sensor systems with an understanding of calibration methods 19. Experience with vision systems 20. Experience with audio technologies 21. Experience programming in languages like Python or C/C++ 22. Experience with circuit design in high speed circuits, Verilog/FPGAs, microcontrollers, microprocessors, firmware, and/or programmable logic based development 23. Consumer Electronics experience and/or working within a mass production environment **Industry:** Internet
