Hardware Designer- Tech Lead
Meet the Team We have an exciting position for a Hardware Designer within our dynamic R&D team at Cisco Montreal. This team is comprised of a diverse group of authorities, each bringing a wealth of experience, knowledge, and passion to reach common goals. Your Impact Working with local and external teams, you will primarily oversee the development of next-generation network solutions, from initial requirements to production readiness. You will become a key player in the hardware team to define and develop high-end solutions that will be used in next-generation telecom network infrastructures deployed around the world!!! * Develop your hardware architect aptitudes by conducting feasibility studies, systems definition, requirements & design specifications. * Collaborating on project plans, performing risk assessments, and participating in status meetings to report progress, risks, issues, or blockers. * Guide teams to help them make the best technological decisions to design new hardware solutions that outperform the competition. * Define layout guidelines to meet SI/PI and timing requirements. * Leading and optimizing a multidisciplinary hardware development process (electrical, optical, mechanical, thermal, certification, manufacturing). * Organize, lead and facilitate hardware design reviews with all teams of interest. * Define test plans, board bring-up, system integration, system validation against requirements, specifications & standards. * Keep up to date with the latest regulatory standards, define certification test plans, develop reflexes to design products ready for certification, perform pre-compliance tests, take ownership of the final phase of certification and support the agencies. Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent * Professional experience with multidisciplinary hardware system design (Electrical, Mechanical, Thermal, Certifications, Manufacturing). * Proficiency with components selection, schematics entries & layout guidelines. * Good understanding of electrical, mechanical & assembly fabrication processes and they limitations. * Experience with high-speed interfaces and knowledge with signal/power integrity & timing principles. Preferred Qualifications * Ability to use test equipment’s with excellent troubleshooting/debugging capabilities. * Hands on experience with laboratory test equipment’s, including test programs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, VNA, TDR, signal generators, thermal chamber, soldering Irons. * Basic understanding of certification’s requirements for telecom products (EMC, Safety, Telco). * Experience in supervising & directing hardware design progress executed by external teams is an advantage. * Skills with the following tools is an advantage: Omnify, DxDesigner, Xpedition, SolidWorks, Flotherm, Jira. #WeAreCisco #WeAreCisco where every individual brings their unique skills and perspectives together to pursue our purpose of powering an inclusive future for all.
