Education Recommendations

Currently a 2nd or 3rd-year candidate for a bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or a related field with an accredited school in Canada. A solid understanding of hardware electronics concepts Familiarity with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters Have completed at least one co-op work term, 4 months paid internship, or have equivalent paid work experience Self-confidence, self-motivation, a strong work ethic, a fast learner and can understand technical concepts easily and work with minimal supervision.

 

It would be nice if you also had:

Excellent communication skills, written and oral Good problem-solving skills Ability to work independently

 

As a student in the hardware group, you will work with a highly experienced hardware development team that designs, builds, and supports hardware solutions for Nokia's routing platforms. You will gain practical hands-on experience in the lab alongside hardware developers working on the latest prototype circuit boards. In addition to a technical lead, you will be assigned a 1-to-1 mentor. This mentor is a resource for you to ask any questions, share concerns, learn about Nokia/team culture and career paths, or simply have a chat about how you are getting along. This is an onsite position and requires you to be in the office.

As part of the team, you will:

Verify and debug circuit designs using oscilloscopes and other test gear Test hardware under thermal and environmental conditions Complete the final assembly of new prototype units Qualify new circuit components Develop custom automation scripts (Perl, Python, TCL) to control test equipment
