Hardware Display Engineer

Sterling Heights, MI

Contract Position

Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance.

Responsibilities:

Design and produce armored combat and support vehicles, leading display hardware development for next-generation and legacy systems.Lead the electrical design, development, and integration of display hardware, including Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and Shop Replaceable Units (SRUs) for new and legacy programs.Develop and implement electrical components and subsystems for display technologies, ensuring compliance with performance requirements.Support concept-to-production hardware development, including requirements analysis, design, debugging, testing, and qualification.Develop circuit board specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), schematics, layout guidelines, and test plans.Design and oversee circuit card assembly (CCA) schematics and layout.Conduct component selection, procurement, and prototype hardware builds, ensuring efficient development processes.Perform technology research, feasibility assessments, and trade studies to support advanced technology initiatives.Develop engineering design fixes, coordinate solutions, and track design changes, hardware/software revisions, and debugging status.Collaborate on military standards compliance, testing, and video distribution techniques for display hardware.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).

Experience Requirements:

10+ years of experience in display hardware design and development.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

Expertise in LCD, OLED, LED display technologies, backlight design, and optical films.Experience with graphics/video processing FPGA implementations.Proficiency in FPGA I/O bus designs (PCI, Ethernet, CAN, USB, RS-232/422/485).Experience with Xilinx SCC, trusted bus macros, and FPGA development tools (Xilinx ISE, EDK, Mentor Graphics ModelSim, Altera/Quartus tools).Background in analog/digital circuit design, video/graphics interface design, microcontrollers, and single-board computers.Familiarity with Military Standards and Test Requirements (preferred).Ability to use engineering development and test tools.Must meet Anthropometric Size Requirement (ASR) testing for confined space work inside military vehicles.Willingness to work occasional evening and weekend overtime as required.Preferred Qualifications:Eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance (Non-U.S. citizens may not qualify).Prior experience working with ground combat vehicles.
