We have an exciting opportunity for a Harm Reduction Navigator who has the skills and experience to assess and engage with our service users, ensuring that they access the right intervention at the right time, in a way that best meets their needs.  

 

No two days are the same and we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, so being flexible, curious and a good listener are key. 

 

Where: Forth Valley

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £27,449.52 - £31,529.41 (based on full time hours, pro rata for part time hours) 

Contract Type: Permanent

Responsibilities

About the role: 

 

Engage people who have substance use problems and provide them with advice, support and recovery focused structured interventions to support their recovery and primary health care needsBuild therapeutic relationships and deliver a tailor-made package of care including:  Recognised psycho-social interventions, 1 to1 key work and group work, Harm minimisation and brief interventions, Risk assessments and risk management.Carry out comprehensive service user assessments and develop individual recovery plans.Provide health education especially with regard to harm minimisation, blood borne viruses and overdose prevention.To assist and carry out appropriate screening processes including DBSTTo carry out key harm reduction strategies such as Overdose Awareness and distribution of Naloxone.To provide an arrest referral and assertive engagement service in courts and police custody across Forth Valley.To provide services across the community in a wide range of venues, including home visits to engage service users who would not typically access a substance use service.

 

About you: 

 

Knowledge of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field.Experience of providing harm reduction advice and information.Experience of delivering brief and extended interventions, utilising a range of psychosocial models.Experience of working with referral procedures, assessments and signposting to other/appropriate support agencies.Ability to demonstrate a capacity to innovate and to work on their own initiative as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.Ability to communicate complex information to individuals and groups in a way that is easily understood.Ability to manage change successfully in a way that prioritises the needs of service users Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to engage successfully with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
