The Opportunity
Primary responsibilities for this position will focus on execution of the timber harvesting program, including planning, budgeting, permitting, contract administration including oversight of log merchandising and quality, and supervision of one direct report. The position will also collaborate with engineering staff on road layout, construction and maintenance activities and with silvicultural staff to ensure successful reforestation. This position may be designated “Remote – Work from Home” or assigned to the Grants Pass office depending on candidate.
Responsibilities
Develop and strengthen relationships with regulatory agencies, concerned partners and MFM and MIMT staffParticipate with region staff in the management of transportation systems, harvest operations, silviculture, and other land management activitiesWill report directly to the Senior Area ManagerLead and manage 1 harvesting focused forester, including hiring, mentoring/coaching, and performance managementLayout activities including design and layout of harvest units, stream buffers and leave areasAssist engineering staff with road layoutAdministration of harvest and road maintenance contractsDevelopment of annual property budgets and forecastsStewardship and SFI complianceStewardship of people, including development, implementation, and leadership in support of the MFM safety principlesSupport acquisitions, dispositions and client information requestsOther duties as assignedWhat are we looking for
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Forest Engineering, Forest Management, or a related field is preferred. Additionally, at least 3-years of experience is desired.Strong organizational skillsFluency in computer software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and ArcGIS Professional (ArcPro)Great teammate, able to understand and collaborate with others' needs and diverse personalities.Highly motivated and entrepreneurialStrong oral and written communication skillsIn depth working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulationsMust work independently and travel to remote destinations in the woodsWhat can we offer you?

Key Internal Relationships
Office Staff: Work with office admin to produce contracts, submit required permits, meet all policies, and coordinate projects with other team members and business functions.Sr. Area Manager: Direct Supervisor. Coordinate, communicate and update on implementation of harvest and transportation operations and meeting overall region goals.Region Manager: Assist in meeting overall region goals and support of other team members/locations as requested by Sr Area Manager or Region Manager. Log Quality & Marketing Forester: Assist with the implementation of the log sales plan and log quality issues.Accounting Staff: Assist with the resolution of log accounting issues.Resource Support Team (RST): Assist with the inventory, harvest planning, and GIS/mapping updates.PMCS, EPST, Disposition/Acquisition Groups: Assist with dispositions, acquisitions, client tours, and other special projects.#LI-JH-MIMTA

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
