Lumpfish Hatchery Manager

Cooke Aquaculture USA, Inc. in Eastport, Maine seeks a qualified individual as Lumpfish Hatchery Manager at its Eastport, Maine facility.  Position is responsible for the daily operations and production of a Recirculating Sea Water hatchery, meeting quality standards for Lump Fish production, fostering a culture of safe work and environmental sustainability.

Duties include coordinate with universities and USDA including spending time at these facilities (and field research at a hatchery in Iceland and Canada) to ensure the fish have the best chance for success at the hatchery; under supervision of Freshwater Production Manager, create and implement Safe Operating Procedures(SOPs) for the facility and the other staff working there; assemble, develop and pass along to staff production methodology specific to Lumpfish genetically linked to the Gulf of Maine; coordinate the grow and development of the lumpfish to the sea sites, hiring and training hatchery technicians, running the day-to-day operations of the facility, managing maintenance and operations of the hatchery equipment: keep records and create reports for the Freshwater Manager and Fish Health Department: coordinate with Fish Health and Water Quality for vaccinations, regular health testing of fish, water quality and other government regulatory requirements; support the reporting to the fish health and water quality departments by daily testing of water quality (temperature, salinity, O2 levels, CO2, ammonia, nitrates, etc.), observations regarding fish health (sign of stress, disease, parasites, etc.), growth, and feeding; coordinate the transportation and transitioning of the fish to the sea sites and across international borders; implement treatment, testing, etc., required by the fish health and water quality departments; maintained fish numbers, mortalities, and biosecurity of the site through regular cleaning/disinfection and daily upkeep of equipment, tanks, building, etc.

Must have 24 months experience as a Freshwater Technician. 

Some international travel required to Canada and Iceland.
