Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will identify, collect, consolidate, containerize, transport, store, ship and recordkeeping of the Shipyard and IMF's, ship force's and contractor's generated solid and hazardous waste. You will perform inspections of solid and hazardous waste containers for structural integrity and proper identification and markings. You will perform inspections of solid waste material for potential recycling/reclamation value and proper identification and markings. You will operate motor vehicles, forklifts, hydraulic drum handling equipment, cutting tools, compactors, mixers, solid and hazardous waste processing equipment, various mechanical and chemical pumps/equipment, hand tools, saws, grinders, etc. You will collect samples for testing to determine applicable environmental hazard identification number(s) or characteristics prior to disposal utilizing proper sampling protocols. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. For the WG-06: You would be expected to have the ability to identify, collect, consolidate, containerize, store and prepare for transporting and shipping hazardous waste; inspect waste containers for integrity and markings; collect samples for waste characterization; and respond to the clean up of spills. For the WG-05: You would be expected to have the ability to assist in the collection, consolidation, containerization, transportation, storage, shipment and recordkeeping of hazardous waste and assist in inspections and the collection of samples for testing.
