HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSER LEADER
Summary You will serve as a HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSER LEADER in the Environmental Division of the Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Office (OSHE), Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY&IMF) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. Responsibilities You will pass on instructions received from supervisor and Environmental Protection Specialists (EPS) and start work by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed. You will ensure that needed equipment, supplies, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. You will check work in progress and when finished, check for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines and advises other employees to follow supervisor's instructions to meet deadlines. You will answer workers’ questions about procedures, policies, and written instructions, and obtain necessary information or decisions from the supervisor regarding work-related problems. You will provide the supervisor with information on the status and progress of work, including causes of delays and overall operational issues. You will ensure safety and good housekeeping rules are followed, such as not exceeding machine capacities and properly cleaning and returning tools. You will perform specialized assignments related to hazardous waste treatment, stabilization, neutralization, separation, and preparation for shipment and disposal. You will evaluate complex hazardous waste situations and determine proper handling, marking, labeling, and selection of safety equipment for hazardous materials. You will make on-the-spot decisions regarding the safety and wellbeing of the installation, including responding to hazardous material spills and ensuring proper spill containment. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires exposure to high noise levels. PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ).
