Overview ***This position is physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP*** Under supervision of the Environmental Engineer, Sr., the HWSA/HRC Supervisor directs Hazardous Waste Specialist lead(s) collects, stores, and manages Hazardous Waste that may include classes 2–9, Lead, Lithium and other misc. Hazardous Materials. The Hazardous Waste Supervisor will ensure instructions, warnings, or other markings as necessary in workspaces as required, to include MSDS, wherever appropriate. Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace. Will support the Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance teams by providing information and materials necessary to ensure compliance with local, national, and Army regulations. Knowledge of OEBGD, KFGS, Environmental Handbook, Environmental SOPs and other applicable supporting documentation IAW the PWS. Coordinate Hazardous Materials movement and procurement, and disposal of Hazardous Waste. Supports the development of SOP's, Plans and Work Instructions. Ensures HWSA data is tracked and accurately reported. Handles day to day employee activities/task provides guidance to direct reports documenting feedback and development provided. HWSA/HRC Supervisor responsible for Emergency Response Spill Team (HRC) mitigation/clean. HWSA/HRC may also be required to work after additional hours after the normal shift working hours. Supports and assist in the development of the development of SOPs/WI /Plans. Supports and develops direct reports to include training, counseling, feedback, While in charge of the section, the hazardous waste specialist lead(s) collects, stores, and manages Hazardous Waste to include classes 2 – 9, as well as fuel, Lead, Lithium and other misc. Hazardous Materials. The Hazardous Waste Specialist will post instructions, warnings, or other markings as necessary in all workspaces, to include MSDS, wherever appropriate. Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace. Will support the Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance teams by providing information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure compliance with local, national, and Army regulations and completes supporting documentation IAW the PWS. Will coordinate with COR for Hazardous Materials procurement, movement, and disposal Experience transporting Hazardous Materials IAW DOT/IATA regulations. Responsible for ensuring the Subcontractor requirements, policies and procedures are followed for the Regulated Medical Waste incinerator. Performs Environmental Sampling/Testing. Handles Medical Waste, including Coordinating the disposal and recycling with established installation resources IAW 29 CFR 1910 Will handle hazardous materials classified as Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) Groups 1-9. Performs duties IAW MEDCOM Reg 40-35, Management of Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) processes and procedures. Uses TB MED 593 for field waste management. HWSA/HRC Supervisor responsible for Emergency Response Spill team/mitigation/cleanup/assessing spills. Team (HRC) mitigation/clean. HWSA/HRC may also be required to work after additional hours after the normal shift working hours. Tracking and inspection of AST's. Assigned other duties as required. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required. Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) Education: High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years’ experience or Associates degree and 2 years of experience A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a and host nation Driver’s License, is required. If applicable the ability to attain a Taseria license, must have NACI. Training/Certification HAZWOPER: 40-Hr, maintain the annual 24-hr, or 8-hr. course whichever is required. Experience: One (2) to (5) years of relevant experience depending on education. Skills Must read, write, and speak English at proficiency level 4. Working Conditions: Must be capable of working in an extreme weather condition with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months). Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. Physical Requirements: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
