HBCU Strategic Initiatives and Program Support (SIPS) as an Emerging, Innovation, and Research Coordinator What Will You Do This person will work in Office of Strategic Initiatives and Program Support (SIPS) as an Emerging, Innovation, and Research Coordinator. The position will assist two units in coordinating activities among the NCDOT’s University Center of Excellence program that are managed primarily by the Research & Development (R&D) Unit and assisting with the development of NCDOT’s emerging technology and innovation unit. This position will be to assist in the development of the Data, Technology and AI program for NCDOT. Projects will include the creation of a data and systems inventory for the department, support for data management implementation tasks, and the development of training materials and communications related to the program. + Coordinate tasks, meetings, and scopes of work between the R&D Unit and the Emerging Technologies & Innovation Manager + Assist in drafting the University Center of Excellence call for proposals. + Facilitate the development of applied research, defined as research that is used to answer a specific question that has direct applications to the world. This is the type of research that solves a specific problem. + Draft reports on lessons learned, tracking mechanisms, and funding approaches during these coordination efforts + Participate in meetings and present to different stakeholders based on the task at hand + Conduct research, develop materials for distribution, assist in committee meeting preparation, and attend meetings on connected and autonomous vehicles and other technologies and innovations. + Coordinate with Universities to better understand how NCDOT implements innovations. + Develop tracking mechanisms to capture funding sources, program participation, and coordination procedures. + Develop evaluation analyses on the impacts of these innovations, programs, and lessons learned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies + A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science, required + Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills + Well versed in basic computer programs (word, excel, PowerPoint) + Authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
