For more information on Health Benefits offered visit www.shpnc.org. What Will You Do + Assist in development of Comprehensive Transportation Plans (CTP) across the state. Support senior-level Project Managers/Engineers. + Gain overall insight and knowledge of transportation planning from experienced engineers and supervisors as well as learn the latest IT and other innovations from engineers new to the profession. + Includes Developing a Vision, Goals & Objectives, Multi-model transportation system assessment using quantitative analytical (GIS, TransCAD) as well as qualitative tools, developing transportation alternatives via tools and guidance, developing a draft CTP, and adopting a CTP, engaging local CTP Steering Committee members, elected officials, and public at all CTP Phases. Cloud adoption. + Metropolitan/Rural Planning Organization (MPO/RPO) Coordination. Learn and work with NCDOT - TPD Coordinators on working with MPO/RPOs, which includes oversight, special studies, participation in technical staff and elected official meetings, and providing information to MPO/RPOs. + Learn to review State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) project-level traffic forecasts using CTP and other long-range transportation plans. + Learn the basics of Travel Demand Modeling, using TransCAD software, including modifications of roadway networks and inputting socio-economic data. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies + Microsoft Office Suite and Software: ArcPro GIS, Python Coding, TransCAD (Travel Demand Modeling). + Interest in understanding NCDOT and transportation planning. + Ability to present to small focus groups, larger committees, elected officials, and the public. + Understanding of transportation planning, traffic and environmental engineering, including volume/capacity analysis.
