HBO & Max Awards Intern: LA - Summer 2025

Your New Role 

 

This internship will be located in the Los Angeles area. The selected intern will be expected to join the team in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern manager’s in office schedule. 

 

This role would serve as an introductory course into network award strategy and execution. In this role, you will immerse yourself in HBO and Max original content within Warner Bros. Discovery and learn about the awards space in a thorough and exciting way, helping shape the future of the company.

The candidate will learn effective planning, organizational and communications skills and have the opportunity to immediately practice those skills in an Awards capacity. The candidate will be assisting with projects that support the HBO | Max Awards team at large as we work through our summer campaigns that will lead up to 77th Primetime Emmys and other fall guild & organization ceremonies. In this role, you will immerse yourself in Warner Bros. Discovery content and learn about the awards space in a thorough and exciting way, helping shape the future of the company. 
 
Your Role Accountabilities 

Communicate with team members on a daily basis  

Attend weekly Awards meeting and other team brainstorming sessions  

Support team members with various projects pertaining to Awards campaigning for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards  

Manage the department competitive landscape grid to record trends and other award predictions before the announcement of nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards 

Keep department contact sheets up-to-date with updated series regular/EPs and rep contact info.   

Manage and update the department calendar with information on submission deadlines, ceremony dates, voting timeframes, and nomination and win announcements  

Support the planning, coordination, and execution of HBO | Max “For Your Consideration” events that features panelists/talent from HBO and Max original shows  

Gather information on HBO and Max original shows for team credit grids that assist in producer vetting, episode tracking, etc.  

Gather HBO and Max accolade statistics that help decide current team campaign strategies  

Work events on-site, if needed  

 

Qualifications & Experience 

Extremely organized, thorough, accurate and meticulously detail oriented  

Highly efficient and deadline-driven, successful at multitasking and prioritizing responsibilities  

Self-motivated, reliable and able to work and think independently while being a solid team player  

Quick yet thoughtful problem solving and follow through  

Able to communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written form 

Previous experience with event logistics

Self-motivated, reliable and able to work and think independently while being a solid team player

Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required) 

Must be a rising Junior or Senior (18 years or older) 

Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above cumulative GPA) 

Warner Bros. Discovery will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Warner Bros. Discovery now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States. Candidates on any student visa, including F-1, CPT, OPT, etc., without permanent work authorization will not be eligible for the internship program.

What to know before applying 

The duration of the program is 10-12 weeks 

 

Program date options: 

Option 1: June 2nd – August 15th 

Option 2: June 9th – August 22nd 

 

Interns will be expected to work 35-40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity. 

Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided. 

Interviewing will take place from late January through early April. A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation for roles in locations where legally required. Pay Rate: $19 per hour USD for undergrad interns
