Key Responsibilities:

As member of the Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs Department of World Vision Development Foundation, Inc. (WVDF), the purpose of this position is to provide strategic and operational support to World Vision’s local partnering engagements (pre and post crisis) and capacity strengthening for disaster and climate risk reduction and management. This is with the end view of creating an environment or condition that addresses emergency preparedness and resiliency of the organization and communities including children and their families from crises and complex humanitarian emergencies. Under the oversight and guidance of the HEA Director, the HEA Partnering Officer role:


1. Takes on responsibility in leading engagement efforts on local partnering to build World Vision Development Foundation’s collaborative and inclusive partnerships for climate and disaster risk reduction and management in accordance with World Vision Disaster Management policies and standards, Partnering Policy, other relevant WV policies and guidelines, and with Humanitarian Principles and Core Humanitarian Standards.

2. Develops, organizes, coordinates, and conducts capacity strengthening of local partners and stakeholders, including capacity to deliver life-saving, locally-led humanitarian action that supports and fosters resilience and bring about positive impacts to child well-being, especially those most vulnerable;

3. Serves as focal point and resource for colleagues and partners on specific thematic areas of strategic relevance for the development partnerships and projects/programmes;

4. Works collaboratively with other HEA functions and coordinates with other frontline and support functions of WVDF to ensure timely completion and achievement of HEA business plan.

5. Upholds World Vision’s vision, mission and core values and demonstrate a Christ-centered life and work in working with children, families, and communities

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science graduate or with advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in discipline/s related to World Vision line of work or ministry (Social Science or related fields, Community Development, Social Work, Political Science, and other relevant fields)At least three to five years of relevant professional experience in disaster risk reduction and management, including a background in research, organizational or institutional capacity building especially with community-based organizations, and humanitarian emergencies work.In-depth knowledge of partnership development, project planning and management.Diplomatic communication and negotiation skills to establish and maintain partnerships to develop close and effective working relationships with local partners and stakeholdersConfident understanding on humanitarian principles and Core Humanitarian StandardFamiliarity with child protection and safeguarding commitments and processes, as well as familiarity with political and governmental policies and processes that supports civil society organizations participation in local governance and developmentExcellent verbal and written communications and analytical skills;Have the ability to work under pressure and exercise good judgement in diverse and complex situationsStrength in coaching and mentoringTeam player and adaptive in context of diversity
