Head, Distribution Risk

The Head of Distribution Risk (L1B) is responsible for ensuring that the company’s distribution channels adhere to competency standards and operate ethically and compliantly. This role involves developing training programs, establishing competency benchmarks, monitoring distributor conduct, and implementing compliance frameworks to enhance professionalism and uphold regulatory standards. Additionally, the role plays a crucial part in identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks associated with distribution channels. The position ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and regional distribution risk management frameworks to protect the organization’s distribution operations while supporting sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Governance & Policy Implementation

Develop policies related to distributor competency, ethics, and professional standards.Implement a structured governance framework to oversee distributor activities.Maintain records and reports on distributor conduct, audits, and compliance-related matters.

2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation

Conduct risk assessments across distribution channels, including retail, wholesale, and online platforms.Identify potential risks in distribution operations, such as supply chain, logistics, and customer service.Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and controls to address identified vulnerabilities.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective management of operational risks.

3. Distributor Competency Development

Develop and implement competency frameworks to ensure distributors meet regulatory and company requirements.Oversee the design and execution of training programs, licensing, and certification processes for distributors.Monitor distributor performance and provide skill development programs to enhance sales effectiveness and ethical practices.Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Training, Sales, Compliance) to align competency standards with business objectives.

4. Conduct & Compliance Oversight

Establish and enforce guidelines for distributor behaviour, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies.Monitor and investigate cases of distributor misconduct, taking appropriate corrective actions when necessary.Develop and implement a risk-based monitoring system to identify potential compliance breaches.Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure the company remains compliant with industry laws and ethical standards.

5. Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

Work closely with distribution leaders to promote a culture of professionalism and integrity.Provide guidance and training to internal teams on distributor-related compliance matters. Represent the company in industry forums and regulatory discussions related to distributor standards.

 

6. Compliance and Monitoring

Monitor regulatory and market trends to ensure distribution channels remain compliant with relevant laws and standards.Implement and oversee compliance frameworks to manage risks related to distribution processes.Conduct regular audits and reviews of distribution channels to identify non-compliance or risk exposure. Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and industry best practices.

7. Data Analysis and Reporting

Analyse risk data from distribution operations and present insights to stakeholders.Prepare risk reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management and relevant committees. Track key risk indicators (KRIs) to provide early warnings of potential risks.

9. Collaboration and Training

Work closely with the distribution, sales, and logistics teams to embed a risk-aware culture across the organization.Provide training and awareness programs on risk management and compliance for distribution-related staff.Act as the main point of contact for risk management queries related to distribution.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field.Minimum 5 years of experience in risk management, compliance, or distribution risk.Minimum 10 years of experience in financial sector or distribution operations. Strong knowledge of risk assessment frameworks, regulatory compliance, and distribution processes.Analytical skills with the ability to assess complex data and identify risks. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement and reporting.
