Join us and discover why Modern Healthcare Magazine named us in its “Top 100 Places to Work.” Overview: Under the supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, the Manager - Sports Medicine Outreach is responsible for the management and direction of Mercy's sports medicine outreach coworkers and relationships with community partners, contracting with Mercy to provide sports medicine services. The individual is a leader who inspires a shared vision, demonstrating the value of change and presenting to co-workers with enthusiasm. Manager models the way by setting professional standards, having a positive attitude and engaging co-workers to become leaders in change. They challenge the current process and enable others to promote change by providing support, mentorship and guidance to those who provide direct patient care. The individual will demonstrate professional development and responsibility and holds direct and indirect care providers accountable for their professional responsibilities and adherence to regulatory guidelines. Further, the individual will serve as a liaison with other medical practices in the community including, but not limited to, primary care, pediatrics, orthopedics, neurology, outpatient rehab and urgent cares. Formally and informally monitor coworker performance and lead annual performance reviews for those coworkers directly reporting to Manager. Maintains current knowledge of the sports medicine profession and the departments policies and procedures. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our Mission, Values and Mercy Service Standards. Qualifications: -Education: Graduate of athletic training from accredited college or university. Bachelor's degree required. : Licensed Athletic Trainer by the Board of Registration for the Healing Arts in the applicable state of practice.- Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in sports medicine required and previous leadership experience preferred.- Certifications: Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer and Professional Rescuer CPR or equivalent.- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:- This individual must be trained and capable of performing patient care and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Applicant will need to demonstrate the ability to collect and manage data ascertained from electronic medical records and other supporting tools.- The individual must demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills in previous employment. Evidence of continuing professional education is required with preference given to formal background in finance, health care management, computer literacy, and knowledge of managed care. The coordinator should have the ability to work well with all types of people: patients, physicians, nurses, management staff, and other members of the health team. The ability to communicate professionally and personally is also needed to perform in this position adequately. Errors in judgment could affect patients/families by causing potential serious injury, improper daily charges could affect financial matters, and mismanagement of co-workers could seriously affect co-worker relations. Must assist in exemplifying and maintaining a professional situation of high ethical behavior, professional morale, thoroughness of treatment, reliable execution of orders, enforcement of standard practices, and awareness of handling emergencies and routine situations.
