Under the general direction of the Director of Athletics, the Head Volleyball Coach will lead all aspects of an NCAA Division III women’s volleyball program including student-athlete recruitment, recruiting coordination, scheduling, team travel, scouting opponents, practice planning, equipment, marketing, and administration of the women’s volleyball program in full compliance with NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities The Head Coach will develop coaching techniques, team strategies, and player strategies.

Teach and instruct student-athletes in the technical and motivational aspects of volleyball.

Lead student-athletes on individual performance. They will provide leadership/direction for improvement and share knowledge to assist student-athletes with instruction on performing better in their sport.

The Head Coach will be responsible for recruiting and scouting within NCAA regulations and Piedmont U's admission standards. They will communicate with potential recruits, plan and organize recruiting trips, and complete all necessary paperwork related to recruitment and travel.

Scheduling home and away matches which include travel plans, match times, and equipment.

Provide informal support in personal and academic matters to student-athletes.

Other relevant duties as assigned.

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

On-site work is required.

Incumbents must remain relevant in the area of employment and flexible to changes in work related to institutional needs.

Education and Experience

A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.

Three years of collegiate coaching or collegiate playing experience in the sport of volleyball is required. Experience with student-athlete recruiting, skill instruction, and game plan development preferred.


Licenses and Certification

Valid Georgia Driver’s License (or obtained within 30 days of hire date) and satisfactory MVR.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of NCAA DIII rules and regulations.

Knowledge of the rules and strategies of volleyball. This includes, but is not limited to, teaching techniques and coaching strategies necessary for both individual improvements and overall team success.

Good interpersonal skills are also needed for interacting with university departments, students and prospective student-athletes; requires excellent speaking and writing skills.

Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Ability to identify student-athletes who will succeed both academically and athletically.

Ability to collaboratively and effectively work in a diverse and inclusive environment.


 
Supplemental Information
Environmental, Physical, And Visual Acuity Factors

Incumbents will be subject to inside environmental conditions which includes protection from weather conditions but     not necessarily from temperature changes.

Incumbents in this positions will be expected to climb (Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms); balance (Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow or slippery, surfaces); stoop or crouch (by bending body downward and forward while bending the body at the spine and/or waist); kneel (by bending at the knee to come to rest on one or two knees); reach, stand, walk (moving about on foot to accomplish tasks); pull, lift, use fingering and grasping, feeling, talk (to express or exchange ideas); hear (perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels); and make repetitive motions. This position requires incumbents to perform medium work (exert up to 50lbs of force occasionally, up to 20lbs of force frequently, and up to 10lbs of force constantly to move objects. 

Performance of the duties in this position will require incumbents to have close visual acuity to view a computer monitor, perform data analysis and review; and monitor student-athlete training and performance.
