Head CoachCoEd Badminton ProgramEF Academy, PasadenaSummary: EF Academy, Pasadena is looking for a Head Coach to lead our CoEd Badminton program. EF Academy is competiting as a freelance team this season. The Head Coach will emphasize the development of life skills, and provide an exemplary experience for students, in support of the mission and vision of EF Academy. The Head Coach reports to the Athletic Director and is responsible for day-to-day supervision of assigned assistant coaches; all coaches ultimately report to the Athletic Director. Minimum Requirements:Experience playing and/or coaching competitive athletics at or above the high school level.Acquire, possess, and maintain current coaching certifications and trainings as required by CIF and the State of California before employment can begin.Possess a clean driving record, and have the ability to drive students to school-sponsored activities, including practices and competitions.3+ years working with high school aged students preferred. Key Responsibilities: Provide leadership, supervision, and overall organization of the assigned athletic team.Embrace the responsibility for the care of athletes and the team, in support of in loco parentis.Assesses and instructs athletes, individually and in groups, regarding the basic and advanced nuances of the assigned sport, including sport-specific rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques.Strategize, prepare, supervise, and coach the assigned athletic team at all scheduled practices, games, and events.Establishes and maintains expectations of behavior for athletes and the team that reflect positively upon EF Academy.Demonstrate and promote sportsmanship towards opponents, teammates, officials, and spectators.Serve as a mentor to athletes, supporting and encouraging their holistic growth.Frequently and proactively collaborate with the Athletic Director regarding scheduling, transportation, facility, equipment, and other team needs.Drive students (Monday-Friday, and the occasional Saturday) to off-campus school-sponsored events including practices and competitions.Implement and ensure proper care, use, and safety of athletic equipment, supplies, and facilities.Implement, follow, and monitor athletic team compliance with all CIF-SS, Prep League, Athletic Department, and EF Academy rules and regulations. Follow established procedures in the event of an athletic injury, including chaperoning an athlete to a hospital or medical facility as required. Frequently collaborate with the Health Center and Athletic Director regarding health and availability of athletes. Collaborate with Strength and Conditioning staff regarding team lifts, workouts, and conditioning.Attend meetings and award ceremonies as requested.Other duties as assigned. Working Hours:Working schedule is dependent upon finalizing team practice schedules, travel schedules (departure/return times), and competition schedules. Sundays are always off. Practice schedule may vary, but the team will practice and compete in our on-campus basketball gym. Practice schedule will be dependent on staffing, availability, and schedules to share the gym with our in-season Boys Volleyball Team. The Badminton Team will start practicing on Thursday, February 6, and the season could end as late as the third week of May. Due to EF Academy’s spring break, there are no practices/games from Wednesday, March 5, through Tuesday, March 25. Competitions are generally Tuesdays and Thursdays starting as early as 3pm, with the first competition on Tuesday, February 25. Anticipated Salary Range: $25-30 per hour
