JOB SUMMARY:  

The Head Counselor will oversee, continually develop, and coach the Cabin Counseling Team at Woodward West. They will maintain all aspects of counseling, including daily routine, cabin cleanliness, behavioral management, and cabin cohesiveness all while developing a fun, interactive environment for campers. Additionally, they will be responsible for scheduling counselors, handling administrative duties, and solving complex issues. 

The Head Counselor will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day cabin experience. This includes routine check-ins with Supervisors, Cabin Counselors and Campers. The Head Counselor will spearhead parent-camper communications and collaborate with others as needed. The Head Counselor is responsible for daily cabin safety along with nightly cabin checks as assigned.

Pay: $26.00 an hour 

Camp Counselor Exemption – 85% Per California Exemption Wage Order 5 

All other applicable deductions will be applied 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL SKILLS:  

Preferred experience in leadership 

Preferred 3+ years of experience working with kids and/or teens.  

Experience working in a camp environment is preferred.  

Some college preferred  

Health and Safety Certifications   

Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, comfortable presenting and deploying new technologies.  

Demonstrate broad technical knowledge of management techniques.  

Ability to project manage and prioritize multiple tasks at the same time.  

Strong interpersonal skills. Able to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.  

Is creative. Can conceptualize ideas. Can think "outside the box". Can implement ideas.  

Proven ability to collaborate well across functions and departments, to work as part of a team.  

BASIC SCHEDULE/REQUIREMENTS:  

FBI and DOJ fingerprint screening required.  

CPR Certification 

Physical Capabilities: bend, twist, push, pull, stand, lift 50 lbs.  

Must be comfortable working in an outdoor and indoor all-season environment.  

Adhere to all workplace safety practices, expectations, and guidelines  

Ability to work weekends, holidays, evenings in summer:
