What’s the role?

The Head of Applications has overall responsibility for leading semiconductor technology/applications in the U.S. in close collaboration with the team in Germany. The position is responsible for ensuring success by penetrating technology within ZEISS and understanding what customers need across the board, successfully bringing this knowledge back to HQ in data-driven terms.

Additionally this position is responsible for leading and developing the applications team in its global role with responsibility for driving technology, both current and future. 

The position will be part of the global technology leadership team.

Here’s what you’ll do:

Provide Oversight and Leadership

Manage and develop the applications team, fostering their professional growth within ZEISS.

Ensure team priorities are aligned with organizational goals and overall business strategy.

Lead and oversee all applications-related activities, leveraging advancements to drive technological innovation.

Coordinate and drive ongoing technology development, ensuring continuous improvement and adoption of emerging solutions.

Global Technology Leadership

Actively participate in the global technology leadership team, collaborating with international stakeholders.

Assess and understand current and future technology needs, working closely with the technology team and headquarters.

Align global and regional technology strategies to optimize efficiency and innovation across ZEISS.

Do you qualify?

Advanced degree in Engineering or Sciences (PhD preferred).

Extensive expertise in the semiconductor industry, with a deep understanding of technologies and market trends.

Proven track record of managing complex projects and cross-functional teams in a high-tech environment.

Strong business acumen, with experience in financial responsibility, budgeting, and data-driven decision-making.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

Strategic leadership experience, including the ability to drive innovation, influence stakeholders, and align teams with organizational goals.

Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role, with a focus on technology development and operational excellence.

The annual pay range for this position is $170,000 - $215,000.

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.

This position is also eligible for a performance bonus or sales commissions.  ZEISS also offers robust benefits, including medical plans, retirement savings plan and paid time off.
