Position Description


The purpose of Head of Aviation Safety is to lead our aviation safety & quality initiatives and performance within the HAECO group, managing safety risks and promoting a safety culture on our journey to zero quality escapes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aviation maintenance, safety risk management, regulatory compliance, Safety Management Systems, and incident investigation with a proven track record of leading teams in a matrix organization to achieve excellence in aviation safety and operational performance.

What You'll Do

 

Safety Management System: Develop, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive aviation Safety Management System (SMS) at HAECO Group level. Risk Management: Identify and assess safety risks and develop mitigation strategies. Conduct root cause analysis of incidents and implement corrective actions. Standards: Develop and implement safety policies and procedures. Leadership and Training: Lead and mentor a team of safety and quality professionals. Develop and deliver training programs to promote safety awareness and to enhance the skills and knowledge of staff. Incident Investigation: Investigate safety incidents and ensures corrective actions are taken. Establish key expertise and a centre of excellence for HIP investigation to strongly and pro-actively support entities, especially for high profile events. Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to aviation safety and quality. Report on performance and implement strategies for continuous improvement. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, customers, and suppliers, to promote a culture of safety and quality. Innovation and Technology: Leverage new technologies and best practices to enhance safety and quality. Promote the use of digital tools and data analytics for predictive quality control. Adhere to management directives and perform assigned tasks as required, even if they fall outside the specific duties listed in the job description. What You'll Need


1. Functional and other Relevant Experience

Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards, safe operating practices and incident investigations 10 years of relevant work experience of which at least five years should be from the aeronautical industry in aviation safety and quality management positions

Part 145 product(s) Knowledge of a relevant sample of aircraft type(s) /component(s) maintained, demonstrated by training course or by an assessment performed by the competent authority Auditing techniques training and root cause analysis methodologies training (4) or by an assessment performed by the competent authority

Part 145 Management Systems environment Comprehensive knowledge of the MOE (training) and safety policy Comprehensive knowledge of Part 145 and any associated requirement and procedure (training) Incident investigation Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Management system requirements and their application (including safety management systems and compliance monitoring) (training) Knowledge of relevant maintenance methods (either training or relevant experience) Fuel Tank Safety t (training) Safety training (including Human factors) (training) Knowledge of EWIS (training) Any other trainings of qualifications required by the competent authorities


2. Qualifications and other Relevant Knowledge

Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred. In-depth knowledge of aviation safety regulations and Safety Management Systems (SMS). Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop high-performing teams in a matrix organization. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Certifications such as HK CAD, CAAC, FAA or EASA License, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, or similar are highly desirable. Fluent in English and Mandarin
