We are looking to appoint a Head of Campaigns (marketing), responsible for leading campaigns for Penguin General’s biggest authors, across fiction and non-fiction.

Penguin General is one of the publishing divisions that make up Penguin Random House UK. There are six imprints at Penguin General: Fig Tree, Hamish Hamilton, Penguin Business, Penguin Life, Viking and Sandycove. The latter is based in Dublin.

The role

 

Key responsibilities:

 

Plan and deliver ambitious frontlist marketing campaigns with input from stakeholders and other departments including editorial, sales and publicity Present plans to authors, agents and other key external stakeholders Oversee all aspects of campaign work from briefing agencies and digital ads to copywriting, creative and retailer materials Line manage three direct reports Contribute to and sometimes lead divisional projects and events such as annual conferences and showcases. Work on year-round marketing strategies across key backlist titles to drive sales. Be a key member of the senior comms team, helping feed into department strategy and contributing to wider team development, training. Deputise for the Campaigns Director, Marketing when needed. Keep up to date with marketing and wider media trends to deliver innovative campaign strategies.

 

What you’ll bring

 

Essential criteria:

 

Five years plus experience leading and executing successful, high-priority consumer marketing campaigns. Experience  working with media and creative agencies Digital marketing experience Line Management experience of at least one direct report. Excellent communication, presentation and copywriting skills.  Fascination, curiosity and excellent knowledge of new media, audience trends and different ways we can use it to promote books.   Strong project management skills, organised and able to deliver activity to deadline. Creative with an eye for sophisticated, impactful design and extensive experience briefing assets across various marketing channels, from video to audio.   Confident decision maker, able to effectively collaborate within a team and work independently. 

 

Preferred criteria:

 

Proactive approach to campaign work, with the ability to flex between reactive marketing and longer-term planning.   Actively sharing analysis, best practices and examples of exemplary work from other industries.  A team player with ability and experience building strong relationships with external and internal colleagues, stakeholders and wider media and marketing contacts Line management experience.

Salary

 

Circa £52,000 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.

Hybrid working

 

While our offices across the UK are places to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important. For this role we expect that you will work from our London office in Embassy Gardens, attending key meetings and working as part of the team usually three days per week, with remote working on the other days. We are open to discussing the exact balance of office to remote working through the recruitment process.
