Role Overview
The Head of Close & Reporting is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Global Process Owner (GPO) of Close & Reporting (C&R), with global accountability for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of TP ICAP’s month-end close.
This role will lead the team responsible for overseeing all close and reporting activities worldwide. A key priority is driving alignment across regions, accelerating the close process, and ensuring high-quality data that underpins financial, tax, and regulatory reporting.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader who thrives on improving processes, building capability, and instilling a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
Close Process Oversight & Monitoring
Design and implement a global framework to monitor the end-to-end close process, identifying all key steps and dependencies.
Drive standardisation and alignment across regional processes to improve efficiency and reduce close timelines.
Establish and enforce consistent inputs from other teams to improve the accuracy and reliability of close activities.
Identify where accounting policies are required and ensure these are developed, communicated, and embedded.
Provide analysis and insights to the Close & Reporting GPO and other senior stakeholders as required.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead and develop the EMEA Close & Reporting team, setting a high standard for integrity, motivation, and collaboration.
Foster a culture of open communication, constructive challenge, and continuous learning.
Build team capability through targeted training, mentoring, and career development initiatives.
Controls & Governance
Partner with the Controls & Governance team to ensure appropriate financial controls are embedded in daily operations.
Support the design and rollout of new ways of working to strengthen risk management and compliance across monthly close activities.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Oversee the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Build mechanisms to capture high-quality data at entry, enabling robust analysis and insight.
Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts for both P&L and balance sheet.
Stakeholder & Auditor Engagement
Establish strong professional relationships across the global finance function, acting as a trusted partner to senior leaders.
Serve as a key liaison with external auditors, ensuring the integrity and transparency of reporting processes.
Data & Systems
Collaborate on the design of future-state close and reporting processes, identifying data and system requirements to drive efficiency and scalability.
Ensure core transactional and accounting data is accurate, complete, and reliable for use in tax and regulatory reporting.
Experience & Competencies
Essential
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with extensive year of PQE.
Significant experience in the financial services sector.
Proven leadership and line management experience, with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
Demonstrated success in driving change, improving processes, and accelerating close cycles.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable engaging at all levels including senior executives.
Demonstrated and proven interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across regions and functions.
Highly resilient, self-motivated, and outcome-focused, with strong attention to detail.
Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to respond effectively to changing priorities.
Desired
Proficiency with financial applications such as Oracle, Excel, SmartView/ASO, Hubble, and Onestream.
Experience of finance systems implementation or transformation initiatives.
