HEAD OF CONTRACT MANAGEMENT
PRESENTATION OF RENEWABLE GASES EUROPE
Since 2015, ENGIE has been developing biomethane production activity.
RENEWABLE GASES EUROPE (RGE) is ENGIE’s business entity, that was created in 2023, responsible for the development of renewable and low carbon gas production in Europe.
ENGIE is determined to become a leading player in biomethane production in Europe with 10 TWh/year of capacity beyond 2030. The strategy is to increase the installed base, through the development of greenfield projects and M&A, to inject biomethane into the gas grid or to produce bio-LNG. RGE already has biomethane production plants in operation in countries such as France, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Belgium, and projects are under development in other countries of Europe.
POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION
The Head of Contract Management reports functionally to the Head of Project Management of Renewable Gases Europe.
TASKS ANS RESPONSIBILITIES
Management System :
Create, update, and communicate RGE contract management process, procedures, and templates, for project execution in compliance with ENGIE Policy and Group Rules. Contribute to the development of the set of RGE standard contracts. Drive change, ensuring the deployment of RGE contract management processes and procedures to RGE project execution activities. Manage the identification of a set of RGE standard execution risks. Develop project-specific contractual documents and support its implementation.
Stakeholder management and training :
Establish a positive relationship with internal team members and relevant supplier’ representatives. Participate in ENGIE contract management community meetings. Create training material, and perform formal training and tests, on processes and procedures, contractual entitlements, threads, opportunities, dispute prevention, etc. Coach contractors and internal team members on the understanding and implementation of contract management related processes and tools.
Management of Contracts :
Contribute to defining the contract delivery strategy and structuring assumptions for the projects during the development phase. Support the writing and/or amendment of contracts: framework agreements, EPC, Supply, Erection, Services, etc., as well as its negotiation. Participate in the supplier qualification, RFQ, and contractualisation processes, to ensure that the contractual risks are adequately mitigated. Ensure that the project teams keep adequate contemporary records, track milestones, and maintain an event traceability matrix, Ensure that the Execution PMs and Contract Managers fully document material events which may result in formal dispute, as required by the legal team, to protect Engie. Ensure that Execution PMs and Contract Managers properly classify, issue, and respond contractual communications, reviewing critical correspondence as applicable. Ensure that Execution PMs and Contract Managers produce high-quality contractual assessments, with a clear structure, statements based on contractual clauses and supporting contemporary records, as well as proper EOT/delay analysis. Review assessments and support the negotiation of critical variations and claims. Coordinate the gathering and consolidation of all execution inputs required for arbitrations and other legal processes, and to participate in the process as necessary. Ensure that Execution PMs and Contract Managers correctly handle insurance and warranty claims, providing support as applicable.
Management of Risks :
Oversee the management of risks at project level, ensuring participation of the contract management discipline to risk reviews. Support the identification and management of project risks, helping to develop mitigation plans. Ensure rigorous evaluation of risk provisions that are integrated in the project budget. Drive cultural change, emulating and promoting the risk management approach within the project team and relevant stakeholders.
Control and reporting :
Ensure that all contract and risk management activities are timely and accurately monitored and carried out, while protecting RGE’s interests throughout the full project execution lifecycle. Escalate key events and risks as applicable. Implement follow-up registers and tools, deploy KPI dashboards for contract management monitoring, and contribute to meetings. Comply with reporting requirements and deadlines, coordinating the efforts of others and consolidating data as applicable. Contribute to internal audits and checks, coordinating the closure of observations and non-conformances. Capitalise on and disseminate project feedback on contract management.
Team management :
Recruit Project Contract Managers in line with the growth of the execution team. Lead and manage the Contract Management team. Assign contract management resources to project teams, maintaining the line management and performance responsibility.
LOCATION
Paris, with a number of days of teleworking as per local policy, and regular travels to other RGE units and project locations within Europe.

QUALIFICATION, COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE
Degree and experience :
University degree in Engineering and/or in Construction Law, or equivalent mix of technical and legal background. At least 8 years' experience in a contract management role for industrial projects (bioenergy, energy, chemicals, water/waste treatment) in an EPC, EPCM, or contractor organization, preferably on an international scale. Good understanding of construction processes and technical knowledge of contract management activities, with preferably several years of construction site experience. Experience in developing and implementing contract management procedures and templates, including risk management. Experience in implementing monitoring tools and creating KPI dashboards. Experience working abroad and managing multicultural teams.
Languages :
Ability to work in English and in French, interacting with international teams. Knowledge of other European languages will be an advantage.
