About the Job

The Corporate Relations Director is a senior leadership role that plays a crucial part in positioning Diageo as the most trusted and respected company in the Philippines. The CRD leads the development and implementation of strategies in unlocking barriers, protect and promote the Diageo corporate brand, drive engagement within the organization and amplify the company’s Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) programs.

Purpose of the Role

The Corporate Relations Director is the lead in bringing to life the ambition of Diageo to be the most trusted and respected global company in the Philippines. This role is to represent Diageo Philippines with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to manage key public policy developments and initiatives that can impact the company’s commercial and operational success.

Context/Scope

Corporate Relations is an important function within Diageo and plays a critical role in helping the business deliver its ambition to create the best performing, most trusted and respected consumer products goods company in the Philippines.

This function acts as the company’s spokesperson and plays a lead role in representing the company’s priorities and advocacies with government, trade associations, media and other relevant stakeholders.

The Corporate Relations function and the role of Corporate Relations Director reports directly to the General Manager (Market). Additionally, the role works closely in alignment with the Asia Pacific Corporate Relations Director across public policy, culture engagement/Internal communications, Society 2030: Spirit of Progress (ESG) initiatives and corporate reputation building strategies.

Lastly, the CRD acts as an enabler for other functions such as commercial, marketing, finance, and supply chain, where government legislation and regulation can impact their operations or hinder overall growth performance of the business.

Roles and Responsibilities

Lead in developing strategic public policy approach to protect Diageo’s continuous operations and business performance, including unlocking opportunities for growth.

Represent Diageo Philippines directly through leadership positions in local Trade Associations or industry groups to help unlock challenges or create opportunities for growth through public policy engagement and advocacy (in accordance with generally understood regional and global trading conventions and within local laws and regulations).

Represent the interest of Diageo and/or as a representation of the Trade Association in government stakeholder engagements.

Protect Diageo’s interests and ensuring that the company’s position is heard by leading the development and execution of public policy strategies that ensures marketing, promotion and sales of our products is treated fairly in the marketplace in various stakeholders like the government, trade associations, business councils, etc.

Lead in monitoring legislative and administrative developments that impacts the growth agenda of Diageo; including timely notification, planning and activation of appropriate strategic plans to protect the interest of the company.

Lead in owning, growing, and maintaining stakeholder relationships compliant to the company’s Code of Business Conduct and in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

Lead in developing comprehensive plans to help protect and build the Diageo corporate and product brand reputation internally and externally.

 Lead in developing and communicating engaging Employee Engagement programs (in collaboration with HR) that drives a winning culture within Diageo Philippines. Specifically, this covers leading the communications and execution of global, regional and local business strategy initiatives, employee engagement programs, inclusion and diversity and community are consistently delivered.

Responsible for protecting the corporate and brand reputation by supporting relevant functions in managing and responding to consumer complaints (through consumer hotline or via brand social media) and assist in government-related inquiries.

Subject Matter Expert and owner of the External Communications Policy and Social Media Guideline. This includes being responsible for consistent training and communications of the owned-policies with the employees – including media training with key leadership roles.

Lead in media engagement and landing compelling media and public relations strategies that enhances the corporate reputation by leveraging media stakeholders, representing in speaking engagements and leveraging SEA LinkedIn to highlight Diageo’s brands, talents and winning culture.

Partner with relevant functions to ensure that consistent business messaging and compliance with the Diageo Marketing Code is applied across all brand execution, communications and brand-related public relations activities in order to protect Diageo’s reputation and license to operate.

Responsible for ensuring the strategic planning, program and partnership management in executing Diageo’s Society 2030: Spirit of Progress (ESG) initiative in the market in support of global targets.

Lead in managing partners and agencies in landing annual programs on Positive/Responsible Drinking such as DrinkIQ campaign and Smashed Philippines.

Partner with relevant functions such as HR in driving a winning culture particularly in the pillar of Championing Inclusion & Diversity in the market.

Ensure the compliance and delivery of the Philippines’ overall sustainability target in coordination with responsible functions (e.g. Supply Chain on sustainability targets).

Role Qualifications

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in the fields of Business Management, Political Science, Communications/Journalism ideal.

Minimum of 10-years experience in corporate relations and/or corporate communications and having successfully held public policy and/or government relations roles in previous work experience is ideal.

Experienced working in a commercial, high energy, fast moving corporate environment. Experienced in working in matrix organizations and can work independently, is agile, and able to influence other internal stakeholders to deliver performance and business outcomes.

Resilient and able to successfully navigate ambiguity and demonstrate understanding of complex policy issues and environment.

Experience in working in highly regulated industries is ideal but not a pre-requisite.
