Summary of Role

As the Head of Customer Engineering you are responsible for the Fab1 Customer Engineering team, which is responsible for the program management of the prototype and pre-production phases of new product introduction and resolution of fab-centric problem situations that arise during any phase of the customer product lifecycle.

You will collaborate with Fab Operations and Engineering, Process Integration & Yield Engineering, Product Management, Technology Development, Postfab team, Bump & Test Facility, Quality, Planning, Finance, Field Applications and Sales teams to help select, plan and execute successful customer programs, and thereby improve revenue, margin, and customer satisfactions for GlobalFoundries.

Essential Responsibilities include

Ensure achievement of key objective/KPI’s of the Customer Engineering activities for target accounts

Performing leadership & supervisory responsibilities for your direct reports, include te\am & individual development, performance and work/life balance management, and recruiting.

Work closely with local leadership teams to ensure success of programs and strategy execution.

Lead cross-functional working team to secure on-time shipment of good-quality customer material

Establish trusted relationships with customers, suppliers, partners, and other stakeholders that influence successful outcomes of - Customer Engineering projects & programs

Develop & recommend improvements to the customer program management processes, and refine roles and responsibilities across the functions providing service

Contribute to synergy & consistency across geographically dispersed customer accounts by utilizing common roles/responsibilities & business processes

Adopt, adapt, and apply reference methods & systems to manage & monitor the success of customer new products in the Fabs, including risk assessment of production & revenue schedules.

Develop account-specific recommendations for improving product loading mix centered around new product introduction.

Improve effectiveness of customer interfaces (such as but not limited to customer requests, meetings, visits, complaints and feedbacks) with timely closed-loop responses.

Plans and conducts effective meetings with well-planned agenda.

Identify process ineffectiveness and initiate improvement actions with executive management

Ensure performance and work/life balance management of the Fab 1 Customer Engineering team

Required Qualifications

Ph.D/Masters/Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field or relevant education and years of working experiences preferred.

10 to 15 years in semiconductor technical supply chain with at least 3 years in leadership position, leading a team and at least 5 years in a technical position. Possess strong leadership qualities, system and creative problem-solving skills.

Strategic mindset and strong critical thinking.

Customer-friendly, personable and communicative.

Proactive, outgoing and energetic.

Strong social & conflict management skills.

Mature, decisive and discerning.

Experience developing recommendations to put forth to senior leadership and executives for approval

Highly skilled at communicating complex customer program status information concisely in English both orally and in written form; skilled presenter.

Good oral and written German and /or Mandarin is a benefit

Comfort level of working in a global business environment

Structured problem solving skills and end product orientation

Ability to work flexible hours for participating in multi-continent teleconferences.

Ideally you fulfill the following criteria:

Business process and program management experience

Semiconductor foundry work experience
