Job Description
The Head of Employee Communications helps to develop and execute comprehensive communications plans to engage and inform our people across the organization and serves as a leader on our Communications team, creating engaging, inspiring, and informative content that strengthens our culture and advances our strategy. In addition, this leader is responsible for closely aligning with cross functional partners to create and lead communications that share why we are a leading place to work for potential candidates.
This role is responsible for developing messaging to support the company’s purpose, vision, mission, and strategic initiatives and sharing that messaging across multiple mediums and platforms – internal and external -- including intranet, email, internal social feeds (Viva Engage), video, LinkedIn and more. In addition, this leader will also have shared ownership in supporting large employee engagement events throughout the year.
Responsibilities include:
Internal Communications Strategy and Execution:
· Spearhead the development and execution of a robust internal communications strategy aligned with overarching strategic objectives
· Design and implement targeted programs to foster employee engagement and effective communication practices
· Regularly assess and refine strategies based on feedback and evolving organizational needs
· Ensure internal communications play a pivotal role in promoting a cohesive and informed workplace environment
Content Creation and Curation:
· Serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the internal weekly newsletter and take a leading editorial role in the internal monthly newsletter
· Serve as the primary author for communications about wellness programming and initiatives, producing a steady stream of compelling and engaging content to bring the company's purpose, priorities, culture, and values to life
· Oversee the intranet to ensure relevancy and freshness, balancing business news, important updates, and employee engagement content
Storytelling, External Amplification Awards:
· Translate business objectives, company performance, and management philosophy into internal stories and messages
· Focus on creating compelling content and stories in multiple formats/channels
· Take charge of prioritizing and shaping the corporate award strategy, encompassing submissions, and strategically amplifying wins through both public and internal channels
· Look holistically across internal storytelling to flag and share news externally, where warranted
Performance Analytics and Evolution:
· Design key metrics to evaluate communication campaigns you own
· Measure and advise on areas to evolve based on data
· Optimize current internal communication channels and explore new, innovative ways to reach and engage diverse internal audiences
Leadership and People Management:
· Lead, inspire, and help to develop a high-performing internal communications team
· Role model appropriate and professional workplace behaviors and support a positive, healthy, and inclusive workplace culture
· Foster a culture that supports the growth and development of team members
Partnering with our Attract Join recruiting team will;
· Build employer brand awareness for Equitable, driving qualified applicants to open jobs
· Convey Equitable’s employment value proposition transparently and authentically
· Create, curate and manage content across career sites and social platforms
· Leverage employee advocacy on external channels to help build authentic brand storytelling
The base salary range for this position is $105,000 – $157,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

· Bachelor's degree in Communication, Marketing, English, Business, or a related field
· 10 years of experience developing internal communication strategies across a variety of channels
· Self-starter and confident decision-maker who takes initiative, identifies challenges, and proactively solves them
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to produce clear, compelling, and impactful content
· Experience managing sensitive information and navigating differing stakeholder interests
· Demonstrated leadership skills and interest in developing and motivating a high-performing communications team
· Proven expertise driving internal programs to inform, motivate, and drive desired outcomes
· Financial and business acumen, with strong time management and project management abilities
· Some media relations skills and/or willingness to develop these skills
· Ability to connect industry trends, showcase company purpose and culture, and tailor messages to specific audiences
· Impeccable attention to detail, analytical mindset, and outstanding problem-solving skills
Preferred:
· Expertise using Sharepoint, Viva Engage and Populo
· Public company experience is a plus
· Knowledge of retirement, wealth and asset management industries
